    Parrallels between Giants and Rams

A few years ago the Giants were a team much like the Rams in which they were a reasonably talented team that continued to underachieve. Then came in "drill sergeant" Coughlin, a hard nosed old school coach that turned the team on their ear. Players hated him and his rules and his tough disciplilne. A revolt ensued, players didn't want to play for this guy, he was in the hot seat for some of his actions and almost fired. Then, after a slow start last year they won it all, players who hated him hugged him with the Lombardi trophy in hand. The Rams need a Coughlin. A coach who can get this "million dollar boys club" to perform through fear if need be. It will take the likes of Cowher, Jimmy Johnson, Mike Ditka or although already employed Parcells to get the boys back on track and believing they can win. Vermeil was tough but fair, players hated practice and camp but loved him as a person and wanted to win for him. That's what has been lost under Linehan. The talent level of this team is right there with the rest of the league, all that is lacking is making the players believe they can win.

Funny you should mention Ditka. I was watching the MNF game and there he was situated between the two other Mikes when the thought occurred to me: why not dump Scoot and hire Mike Ditka if at all posssible? I would definitely keep Haslett & Saunders (at least for the rest of this year) but I would think that a coach of Ditka's personna could make a quantum change in the attitude and performance of the Rams. He wouldn't have to come in and change a lot of stuff; just get the boys to play with heart and desire. That's all. And that's enough for this Rams fan.

    WHAT SAY YE?

Actually of the coaches just mentioned I would rather have Cowher than Ditka. He knows how to integrate the run game and passing game. And i can't imagine him not being thrilled at having a running back with the talent of Steve Jackson.

Ditka,? Didn't he play for the NFL along time ago without a helmet? because he sure acts like he did. His last stint with New Orleans, was less then PRODUCTIVE...placing all his eggs in one basket, namely on a pothead, now ironically with Miami

But seriously, Ditka is too old school, and right now the Rams don't have enough bone and muscle to play smash-mouth football Ditka is noted for.

If anything the Rams need to do two things. First play like professionals and do their best to excute the plays called in regardless how lame, short sighted, or ill-advised Linehan and staff call for. Second, the current play book isn't working. Right now the Rams might as well send a runner over and tell the opposition what play they are going to run.
