Re: performance of defnese and quality of opponent
The eagles are embarrasing us.

Re: performance of defnese and quality of opponent
Can you say major DB pick ups next season? I say first round pick and two free agents just for defensive backs.

Re: performance of defnese and quality of opponent
One other thing. The point of the start of the thread was to state how meaningless preseason performance is, especially against backups. The quality of the opponent is critical in evaluating performance. The eagles are a playoff quality team and they just put up 300 plus yards of offense in a half. The sandiego backups are not playoff quality or even nfl starting quality.
I appreciate that this is a long season and i am certainly not giving up, but the point is that what we were all concerned about, pass rush and pass protection, is whats killing us in the first half of week one and given our early season schedule, its just a terrible sign. It is of course only one half of one game, but there is simply no evidence to suggest that this is an anomoly. We are picking up right where we left off last year on both sides of the ball.

Mosselini, i am not defending the db's, who have been lousy for sure, but without a pass rush no db's are going to effectively cover down the field for very long.

Re: performance of defnese and quality of opponent
The thing that gets me the most is they are doing all this damage against us essentially WITHOUT Westbrook. I mean, what has he done? The most lethal dual-threat in the game has a TD from a shovel pass but otherwise has been held in check. This does not look good right now and can not bode well for the rest of the season...

Re: performance of defnese and quality of opponent
WOW! Where are our receivers? It looked like Bennet was hurt, but Holt played maybe two play's? Where the heck is Burten?
What the heck is our coaching staff thinking?
I hope they are thinking what we are, and I'm rather tired of Scotty scratching his bald head. He has to go, and he needs to go now.
The drive by Jackson where you could feel and hear his helmet comming off is the only impressive drive I saw.
OK!
Cali is writing Scotty and telling him to grow some, um, hair! Better yet, I'll give him a quick call on the field.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Re: performance of defnese and quality of opponent
Scotty has to go!!! This is the opening game of a make or break season in his coaching career and the team is not ready to play. I do not care who you are playing, ours players are being paid to play just like the Eagles players are being paid to play. Talent wise there is not a huge difference between any players in the NFL. Sure there are some better players but not this much better. McNabb is a good, not great QB, he must look like Marino out there today. This is a matter of coaching.
SLOP where are you!!!!!

Re: performance of defnese and quality of opponent
I can almost guarantee you. The Rams will be in L.A. Next year. Because I doubt St Louis will want to put up with that any longer. I personally wouldn't want them here. But to me it's looks like they are tanking on purpose.

Re: performance of defnese and quality of opponent
Watching Chris Long, he has been double teamed much of the day and seems to be the only one with any kind of emotion out there...
