Peter King MMQB
-Legatron. It's a matter of time before St. Louis' Greg Zuerlein breaks the record for the longest field goal (63 yards) in NFL history. He missed a 66-yarder wide left at Miami that had plenty of leg. Of course, he missed 52- and 37-yarders too, and making any of the three would have forced overtime in a three-point loss.
I'm just happy he's being called by Legatron, as a lot of analysts havent been. Everyone already knows hes a kicking beast, it's just nice getting the Legatron nickname out there proving its GZ's. And hopefully this will finally cement it into the minds of everyone else.
That is all. GO RAMS

Re: Peter King MMQB
I sent an email to Les Carpenter from Yahoo Sports telling him that the "Legatron" name ORIGINATED here on ClanRam, even giving him a link to prove it. Here's what he sent back to me today:

Hi , was out of town and am just getting back to emails. I love the name Legatron and had no idea where it originated. Thanks for the note. It’s an awesome name.
Of course, I’m sure Zuerlein and no other Ram will ever speak to me again since he missed three kicks on Sunday. Too bad that last one went just wide….would have loved to have seen the record.

Thats awesome Sam. I know i didn't come up with but i know it started here. Great work making sure he knew. It's great being part of that, even if its just a bystander agreeing with the nickname when it originated, especially since Legatron is going to break so many records. There is no doubt in my mind he'll beat the distance record and consecutive fg's made record. Falling short one fg to tie the consecutive record in just his first 6 games, i think we all know he will get it. As i have said before, i have never been as excited for a kicker as i am for Legatron.

What was the link Sam? I traced the first use of "Legatron" a month ago after the win against Washington, to lostsoul.
It'll be interesting to see if anyone else or another site tries to claim coining "Legatron".
BTW, nice work letting Carpenter know the moniker originated on the best Rams site in the universe!

I cant believe that this website was the sole reason people on television are using that nickname! Crazy.

Re: Peter King MMQB
The Vikings have tagged Blair Walsh as Legatron but i dont think it has caught on as much as GZ being nicknamed that. Also, though i know its only wikipedia, GZ and Walsh are both referred to as Legatron as there nicknames. If you type in Legatron on google though, GZ is what comes up for most of everything.
Greg Zuerlein is the true Legatron!!

You're absolutely right. Maybe a Georgia fan? Here's the thread I found on the subject:
