Peter King's QB Rankings
An interesting ranking:
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/200.../17/qbs/1.html
1. Peyton Manning
2. Tom Brady
3. Drew Brees
4. Carson Palmer
5. Marc Bulger
I think Bulger rates at least #3. John Kitna #9?? Jay Cutler #10??

Re: Peter King's QB Rankings
On first glance they look pretty egregious, but the rankings make a bit more sense when you consider the point is to rank who will have the best 2007 season rather than simply a pure best-to-worst list. That being said, I'm still not sure I'd put Kitna and Roma over someone like McNabb. Hope he's right about Leinart and Smith. I find it interesting how low Eli Manning is.

Re: Peter King's QB Rankings
I'm pretty confortable with marc bulger ranked at #5, he's behind great QBs and we don't usually see him ranked this high, and it's about time they ranked a RAM higher then a seagles, whiner, and that other team that's in our division. so I'm happy!!.

Re: Peter King's QB Rankings
I agree McNabb should be ranked higher on the list. Between Bulger and Hasselbeck??
With Tiki Barber gone it's time for Eli to take the training wheels off and lead his offense. The problem is that Eli is still a snot nosed kid and leadership is not something that he is comfortable with. Tiki was good at drawing the attention on himself when Eli wasn't playing well. Tiki was smart enough to know that the New York Media would chew up Eli and spit him out. So to prevent Eli's confidence or lack thereof to take any hits Tiki would cause waves( question the coaches offensive play calling) thus bringing the attention onto him and headcoach Coughlin.:x

Re: Peter King's QB Rankings
Two notes:
1. King appears to have used only the past two years for his statistical comparison. Bulger missing half of 2005 couldn't have helped him any.
2. Bulger had the lowest intangible score (6 of 10) of anyone in the top 9. Any thoughts why that might be? He's a high character, hard working, team leader. How can he have the lowest intangible score of anybody in the top 9 overall?"Before the gates of excellence the high gods have placed sweat; long is the road thereto and rough and steep at first; but when the heights are reached, then there is ease, though grievously hard in the winning." --- Hesiod

Re: Peter King's QB Rankings
I would guess it's because Marc isn't a real vocal leader. He's generally perceived as a relatively cool, quiet workman-like performer who does his job very well but doesn't really inspire others to greatness. For most of his career, he has been more of Martz' disciple than a leader in his own right. He didn't even get to make calls at the line of scrimmage before Linehan arrived. It still stands out, though, because almost all of the players with ratings that low for intangibles are young guys who haven't really proven themselves yet. The most noteworthy exceptions being Bulger, Garcia, and McNair. I disagree with putting any of those three that low in intangibles.

Re: Peter King's QB Rankings
Maybe its the fact that he's never dated Carrie Underwood?
Frankly, I think Hasselbeck is rated too high.

Re: Peter King's QB Rankings
It won't matter after this season when the Rams tear it up and "these experts" trip over themselves trying to take bakc their words.
Nick, you think Eli should be higher?? I think he is no better then rex Grossman. Both of them screw up royally under any type of pressure whatsoever!

Re: Peter King's QB Rankings
What I want to know is how in the world did Brodie Croyle end up with the same intangible score as Bulger when his entire NFL career consists of a whopping 10 total plays?? Of all King's rating criteria, the intangible score is easily the most arbitrary and inconsistent.

Re: Peter King's QB Rankings
Probably what happened is that he first ran the objective criteria and, upon seeing that Bulger is higher than Tom Brady, he had to create a subjective criteria to ensure the outcome he wanted.

Re: Peter King's QB Rankings
i thought Damon Huard was KC's starter. Vince young is one of the most dynamic play makers in the league. , but his passing ability doesn't put him at 7
