I've gone the same way. The upset to watch, in my books, will be Gibson over DX. I wouldn't be at all surprised if that was on the cards come September.

Re: Pick Six: Your Opening Day WRs!

I think we are going with seven:

    Amendola
    Avery
    Walker
    Salas
    Pettis
    Gibson

I had Gibson not making it but he's off to a fast start and in this shortened off season that's going to mean a lot.

Salas and Pettis, from what I read they both carry themselves like pros not rookies.. both do have great hands and run nice routes.

Avery is still the deep threat as long as he stays healthy we have hope for the deep ball.

Amendola, lead the NFL in all-purpose yards with 2,364 nuff said.

Walker, is going to be the number one and a great red zone upgrade...lock!

    IMHO Last spot is between:
Alexander and Gilyard.... Gilyard, from what I have read looks like a new man! DX today missed the scrimmage due to his knee... so we will see.

Great poll. And it looks as though Sammy might enjoy this six pack of root beer.

    Alexander
    Amendola
Clayton / Avery if MC does not make it physically
    Pettis
    Salas
    Walker-Simms

Throw out Gilyard, Clayton and Alexander. The rest make the squad.

How is clayton on anyones list and he isnt on the roster? Geez if thats the case how bout i just pencil in andre johnson, he should take care all our problems.... Right? Or how about moss from the 99 season? Smh this aint madden, we cant just put someone on the list thats not here... but here are my choices as of right now barring injury

    Amendola
    Msw
    Gibson
    Gilyard
    Pettis
    Salas/avery/dx
Salas will be on the roster but pratice squad maybe? Avery and dx need to stay healthy at this pace they both will get cut. Cant make the club in the tub

Re: Pick Six: Your Opening Day WRs!

Gotta go chalk until I see them in action:
MSW... you don't sign him to be your #1 and then cut him.
    Wes Welk.. err (R)Amendola
Avery... looked real good against the Pats until that whole knee thing.
DX... and by this, I mean until he blows his knee out and we re-sign the healed knee of Clayton.
    Salas
    Pettis... because you don't PS a 3rd or 4th.

Sorry to Gilyard and Gibson. See you later if we need a replacement or on the PS if able.
    I believe!

I don't see either rookie getting cut unless they are really playing poorly... well see.

Re: Pick Six: Your Opening Day WRs!

Call me biased, but the same old argument about DX has popped up about whether he is durable/effective. From a purely objective point of view DX is not as durable 95% WR's in the league. BUT, he is effective, highly effective when he is involved. @kman I must remind you that DX was on a 20 play count all last season, and that doesn't mean all 20 of those plays were designed around him. I'm not saying he'll be a #1 on this or any team, or even that he's a lock to make the 53 man roster, but to question his effectiveness? Not possible. When given the chance he proved he's effective.

    That said I picked:
    MSW
    Amendola
    Gibson
    Pettis
    Salas
    Alexander

Re: Pick Six: Your Opening Day WRs!

Here is my final six and depth chart

    1 WR Walker
    2 WR Gibson
    3 WR Avery
    4 WR Salas/Pettis

    1 WR Slot Amendola
    2 WR Slot Salas
    3 WR Slot Pettis

McDaniels' used a 3-WR set 53 percent of the time last year, and a 2-WR set 28 percent of the time. He used 4-WR sets 6 percent of the time.
We are going to see a lot of MSW, Gibby and Amendola. Add TE Kendricks and SJ catching the ball out of the backfield should be solid.

Re: Pick Six: Your Opening Day WRs!

I think Gilyard will make the team as a back up WR but as a main KR/PR. Alexander I want him to make this team but there are to many wr's that I want to keep. But then I also like what Dominique Curry is doing on special teams so that just throws everything off.
