    pickett and the pro bowl

nfc defensive tackles are tommy harris, rod coleman and shaun rogers, none of whom had as good a year as pickett. I notice that labentley charles from the saints made the team as a center, i thought he was only going to make it as "player best able to take a punch in the man fruit and return to the game"

Pickett not making it can probably be blamed on the defense being so terrible. However, I still think it is wrong that he is not there.

Pickett just suffered from producing his best year while our seasons in the toilet. Harris plays on a good unit, whilst Coleman and Rogers are maybe dining out on last years numbers. It was always going to be easier for Holt and Pace as they are almost automatic picks these days and have pro-bowl history.

Players on the worst defenses in the league rarely make the pro bowl. just how it is. especially players without any sort of track record of pro bowl play.

I agree 100% with your assessment Mr. boom, but that doesnt make it right of course. It is what it is, like any other quasi popularity and reputation contest, like the gold glove awards in baseball.

Point is, no one got the shaft worse than big grease. he has been dominant all year, best tackle in the nfc and we need to find a way to sign this 26 year old man child given that without him, we have no presence of any kind in the middle.

I don't know. Of the 22 defensive starters in the pro bowl, 12 of them (7 AFC, 5 NFC) play on teams with defenses ranked in the lower 1/3rd of the league.

    I think Pickett got screwed.

Re: pickett and the pro bowl

ranked in the lower third of the league is one thing, ranked below the university of miami defensively is another. We were just so so bad this year, especially against the run, its got to be very tough for new guys who havent made it before to break in.

i wonder if the alleged vet comment that was in SI regarding the three first round picks are killing us on the dline had anything to do with it.

gc, i agree he should have made it , but from a financial stand point it might be better for us that he didnt, because if he does his price to resign goes up.if he makes it, then we are thrying to resign a pro bowl def tackle instead of a very good def. tackle.
