the present that keeps on giving. Redskins struggle next year and give up a top 5 pick and the stockpile could start all over again. (i truly believe next years draft class will have much more sort after prospects at the top of the 1st than this years one did..)

If any one of these guys ends up being better than RG3 then we ROBBED the Skins. I dont think its too far fetched either.

hard to say who got the better deal because RG3 has been huge for them, but i absolutely love and prefer our situation, especially if RG3 has any complications with the knee.

Having the extra first rounder also gave the Rams more of a cushion so they could move up to take Austin so the trade helped in that respect too. And I think this is one of those rare trades where both teams appear to have won so far.

I like it although I'm not certain how you figure?

    Wasn't the trade three 1st round and a 2nd?

That's 3 picks to date and one more next draft. You've got seven players on your list?

Because they later traded the picks they acquired in the RGIII trade for even more picks, meaning more players thanks to the original trade.

Starting from the beginning, the Rams traded their first round pick (2nd overall) last year to Washington for its first (6th overall) and second rounder (39th overall), and then a first rounder in 2013 (22nd overall this year), and a first in 2014.

The Rams then traded down once more, from 6th overall to 14th overall where they picked Brockers. That yielded an additional second rounder (45th). The Rams picked Janoris Jenkins with the 39th pick (Washington's), then traded down again from 45th to 50th with Chicago. They gained a fifth round pick in doing so. At 50, they took Pead. With the fifth rounder, they took Watkins.

So in 2012 alone, the RGIII trade yielded picks that the Rams would either use or trade, allowing them to acquire Brockers, Jenkins, Pead, and Watkins.

This year, the 22nd overall pick is the Washington pick that the Rams owned. They traded down for the 30th, a third round pick, and a sixth round pick. They used the 30th pick on Ogletree, the new third round pick on Stedman Bailey, and coupled the additional sixth round pick with their own sixth rounder to move up and take Zac Stacy.

So just using the picks they acquired from Washington, the Rams either made selections or trades for more picks and acquired Brockers, Jenkins, Pead, Watkins, Ogletree, Bailey, and Stacy (though they packaged one of their own sixth rounders for Stacy). The Rams turned three picks into seven players through trades, and still have a 2014 first rounder from Washington to work with next draft.

I guess a compounding investment is one way to look at it. Fortunately we have a GM that has the foresight and initiative to pull the trigger on the trades.

    Thanks for you take!
