Who do you guys think is mostly to blame?
i don't care if feeley has to call our plays next week, shurmur has to go. NOW.
Neither, I blame Flajole ... letting the backup QB come in and work your defense like a seasonal berry picker tells me he had blinders on this week.
Shumur makes the calls becuase spags is a defensive coach. but you cant blame shurmur right now... we are clearly lacking talent. If you go back to last year the play calling has gotten better. Last year on 3rd and whatever the play was a shotgun draw to sj39. This year we will do whatever is appropiate to get a 1st down. Shows how much confidence the team had in bulger vs bradford
and you cant blame the d coordinator either... lol we are lacking talent! Look at our CBs.... you ever see them turn their head to make a play on the ball, NO. You see all defensive players dropping gimme ints... THis is pityful
how has the play calling gotten any better? we call no down field throws until the end of the game when we are in desperation mode, same as last year. i saw multiple shotgun-draw plays on 3rd and long today. what killed us today is the same thing that's killed us for awhile now..when the d stacks the box and goes all out to stop sjax, we don't make the proper adjustments and make them pay for it because shurmur has no guts. guy's got to go.
Shurmur, but spags is the head coach and he should step in. We need identity. And we still dont have it with Shurmur's play calling.:|
I can't say if he needs to be replaced or not, but Shurmur did a terrible job in the 2nd half (end of the first too). You can't call a run up the middle every single first down, then call a run 80% of the time on second down. He was way too predictable. In addition, you need to allow your QB to get in to some sort of rythm. Run, run, pass sequences make it really hard on the QB to get any sort of rythm going, especially when it is 3rd and long.
Shurmur is the one calling the plays, but if Spags isn't seeing the results he wants, why isn't he stepping in?
Why isn't he ordering more of an aggressive offense?
Sometimes I think that Spags is better as a d-coordinator than a head coach. I have a feeling he's not totally ready.
I actually thought our CBs played pretty well this game. But you are right on the dot when it comes the CBs not making a play on the ball. I played corner in high school and those things are just fundamental. You run with the wideout as tight as possible as soon as he puts out his hands or his eyes light up for the ball you turn around while in stride and try to make a play on the ball. I dont understand how this is missed by a professional football team. When was the last time our CB had a Int? I honestly cant remember!
