Which player had the most "flawless" career as a Ram?

In the history of the Rams, which player do you feel had the most "flawless" career?

In answering this question, assume the word "flawless" encompasses not just individual and team success on the field, but also includes the following:

    1. Longevity with the team (bonus for players who played exclusively for the Rams).
    2. Lack of off-the-field troubles/positive off-the-field conduct.
    3. Lack of disruptive contract disputes.
    4. Reputation as a good teammate/leader.
    5. Health/consistency.
    6. Quality play in big games.

I've listed some nominees, but I invite you to feel free to write in your own candidates.

For me, this was a tough call. I ultimately went with Isaac Bruce. While others were his equal (or better) in longevity and, to some extent, consistency (Bruce had some health issues before the GSOT years), ultimately the Bruce's performances in the 1999 Playoffs (317 yards, 2 TDs including Super Bowl game winner) put him over the top for me.

Tough choice, I'll have to think about it a while. Bruce chose to play for the Whiners, and that doesn't sit well with me, otherwise he'd be my clear-cut choice.

Awfully tough. I went with Merlin Olsen. In a 15 year career, he was a 14 time Pro Bowler and missed 2 games.

Doesn't get much more flawless than that.

I had to go with Olsen too. It was between him and Bruce, but the Whiners defection for Bruce won the day for Olsen. I just can't get past it.

Given all your criteria, i think the answer has to be olsen. He had more pro bowl seasons than Bruce (as much as i love both bruce and jack youngblood, another guy to consider here would be jackie slater). At the end of the day, i dont think you can penalize olsen for the rams not getting to the super bowl. I believe he was all pro 13 times in 14 years, never got hurt, was a dominating force game in and game out and was actually a significant contributing factor in the success of deacon jones (olsen effectively covered both the tackle and end spot vs. the run, allowing jones to rush the passer with reckless abandon). Bruce had some spat with vermeil (the so called superstar). Its a minor bone to pick, but only comes up in the context of the most flawless question.

If there was ever a flawless Ram, it's Merlin Olsen. I can't find a single negative in all his years as a Ram. Jack Youngblood and Isaac Bruce are right there, but neither quite measured up to a career that spanned 15 years as a consummate professional and teammate, with an NFL record 14 Pro Bowl appearances.

14 out of 15 seasons in the league leading to Probowls. Doesnt get any more flawless than that.

Oh, I really like this stuff!

I will say some of the names on the list surprised me, but nonetheless a solid list.

My list of the most "flawless" in the following order:

    (2) JACK YOUNGBLOOD
    (3) BOB WATERFIELD
    (4) JACKIE SLATER

Merlin Olsen for me. Flawless as both a player and a human being.the ultimate flawless Ram.

    Plus one for Father Murphy.
If a team won their division seven straight times, that would be a NFL record. Now add on that team did it with seven different QB's in seven straight years, that record is unbeatable. To do that feat, you must of had a great Defense. Jack Youngblood was the captain of that defense.

Olsen was definitely in the running for me. I didn't vote for him because he never played on a Championship team. That said, from an individual standpoint, he could very well be "Mr. Ram."
