Great names listed, for sure. Hard to select here.

First thought for me was Olsen -- "flawless" fits his remarkable career just right. Nevertheless, I went with All Pro Jackie Slater. 20 years, all Rams (1976-95). Started in over 200 games, played almost 260.

Top three for me -- kind of...

    Slater. Olsen. Mack.

As I look at those photos, I'm thinking we may need a "greatest Rams moustache" poll!

Merlin Olsen, Tom Mack, Isaiah Robertson, Jeff Fisher...

Hacksaw Reynolds would win the 'greatest 'stache' poll ... hands down!

If a team won their division seven straight times, that would be a NFL record. Now add on that team did it with seven different QB's in seven straight years, that record is unbeatable. To do that feat, you must of had a great Defense. Jack Youngblood was the captain of that defense.

Re: Which player had the most "flawless" career as a Ram?

    Excellent criteria...

    1. Longevity with the team (bonus for players who played exclusively for the Rams).
    2. Lack of off-the-field troubles/positive off-the-field conduct.
    3. Lack of disruptive contract disputes.
    4. Reputation as a good teammate/leader.
    5. Health/consistency.
    6. Quality play in big games.
    7. Good looking?

If No. 7 would be added, perhaps we could list WR Jack Snow, another Rams great; he played all of his 11 years with us (1965-75) producing 340 catches for 6000+ yards and 45 TDs. Not bad for one who was considered 'good looking'. I think this should count as part of being flawless! ^_^

After working as a Rams sportscaster, sadly, Snow passed away too early at 62 in 2006.

I never got to see the likes of Olsen, Deacon Jones or some of the other Ram greats play. So for me it has to be Isaac Bruce. An extremely consistent player on some terrible Ram football teams.
All culminating in his winning TD in the SuperBowl. He will always be my favourite Ram.

Re: Which player had the most "flawless" career as a Ram?

When Rams historical inquieries such as this one come up, I'm usually biased towards one of the teams I admired the most and that is the Rams from 1965 to '72. I hope you don't mind, Av.

In addition to Merlin and Snow, those teams included other Pro Bowl players with truly 'flawless' careers, most of them as Rams-only warriors, some underrated...

Dick Bass, RB -- 10 year career w/the Rams (1960-69). Twice 1,000 yds rushing (14 game seasons).

Charlie Cowan, OL -- 12 year career w/Rams (1959-75). Ironman.

Roman Gabriel, QB -- one of our best ever: 154 TDs, 11 years w/Rams (1962-72). NFL MVP in 1969.

    Ken Iman, C -- 10 years w/the Rams (1965-74). Also ironman.

Deacon Jones, DE -- 11 years w/Rams (1962-71). HOF, "Greatest Pass Rusher of All Time" (NFLN).

Lamar Lundy, OL -- 13 year career w/the Rams (1957-69) with famed Fearsome Foursome.

Tom Mack, G -- 13 year career w/the Rams (1966-78). Mack Truck. A quiet HOFamer.

    Eddie Meador, S -- 15 year career w/Rams (1961-70). Holds team INTs record, 46.

Jack Pardee, LB w/Rams for 13 yrs (1957-64, '65-70). 17 INTs, very underrated.

Joe Scibelli, OL -- 15 year career w/the Rams (1961-75), yet another ironman.

Below, Ken Iman, Center; The Roman General, and Joe Scibelli, Guard. Also LB Jack Pardee and Eddie Meador, terrific safety! Also, big Lamar Lundy, and the great Deacon, DEs.

Also, a Two Part video - a sample of the 1969 Rams where some of the above players can be seen as part of their 'flawless' career: Mack (65) and Meador (21); Cowan (73), Gabriel (18), Iman (50), Jones (75), Josephson (34), Olsen (74), Pardee (32), Scibelli (71), and Snow (84) ... among my all-time favorite Rams in the 46 years of loyal fanhood.

At 1:18 of Part 2 there's a nice FG fake by Meador to make a 1st down which a few plays later results in a TD. A forced fumble by Merlin Olsen can be seen at 2:14, recovered by Meador. Then Captain Meador makes an INT at 3:31 and runs it back for a touchdown.

If you have 11 min. and would like to reminisce Rams strength, I invite you to watch the vid (Part 2 of 2). It was a hard fought game, considered 'The Game of the Week' in wk 9, Nov. 16 of 1969. That was year we went undefeated the first 11 games of the regular season. Roman Gabriel was the NFL MVP that year as well.

NOTE: This video is Part 1 of 2. I recommend Part 2 instead but that link would not work due to four letters in it that make for a nasty "four-letter word".

Enjoy the videos -- hey, it's the off season! Remember, Part 2 is better.

Re: Which player had the most "flawless" career as a Ram?

Can't forget Les Josephson, a fine RB, clean cut, flawless. Played entire 10 year career with us (1964-67, '69-74). Even threw for a 15 yard TD. Could it have been on this play -- looks like he's setting himself to throw...

    --

Below, great shot of Josephson with a good gain running behind pulling guard Scibelli. Nov. 12, 1967. Rams won that game at home, 33-17. Part of a production that helped the Rams win the NFL Western Conference Championship with an 11-1-3 record.

Re: Which player had the most "flawless" career as a Ram?

    Hey, what about Tom Fears!

HOF receiver (End) played all nine years of his career with the Rams (1948-56).

Twice caught passes for over 1,000 yards when only 12 games were played per regular season. He was selected as a DB and had two INTs his first year, one of which he returned 35 yards for a TD. Only compatriot of mine that I know of in the NFL HOF.

    Flawless indeed...

LOL! Old Joe is probably sipping some real cold milk (2%) -- Gatorade was not as popular on the sidelines then and Coach Allen was very strict with what their players ate or drank; or watched on TV.

As documented by NFL Films, Allen was known to eat ice cream or peanut butter for many meals because it was easy to eat, and saved time so Allen could get back to preparing for the next game.

Allen kept in shape as a coach, and would run several miles at the start of each day. He did not curse, smoke, or drink, instead habitually consuming milk (some suspected that this beverage of choice arose from ulcers they suspected the always-high strung coach to suffer from). Coach Allen would later be appointed by President Ronald Reagan to the President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports. -- NFL Films

Here's another tough hombre: Dennis Harrah, OL -- 13 years in the NFL, all with the Rams (1975-87).

Several years Pro Bowl / All-Pro. All business. Flawless career.
