    Re: Playoffs?

It will take another year or 2 for the Rams to clean up the defensive mess that Martz left.
The Shredder ... How many players will be starting in 07, that played for Martz?

Absolutely. They've added veterans (J.Hall, C.Draft), they have players who are young and still reaching their potential (V.Adeyanju, C.Wroten, T.Hill, O.J.Atogwe), they added rookies who should contribute (A.Carriker, C.Ryan, J.Wade) and they are in the second year under Haslett's system.

All that adds up to the potential to be solid on defense.

We get it, Shredder. You're a KC fan and you don't think much of the Rams' chances. That's wonderful. Obviously, we disagree. But don't worry... you'll still be welcome to visit next year when the Rams are playing in the postseason and the Chiefs are planning for the draft.

I don't think the NFC West is going to be as weak this year. All four teams seem to have added some solid talent to themselves so far this off season.

That said, I think it will be the Hawks and Niners competing for the West crown again this year. But the Rams games are a couple of my favorites, I look forward to those games.

    Re: Playoffs?

People like to point to the Rams obvious question marks on defense, but its not as though the other NFC West teams lack question marks of their own:

    Seattle
    • Can they build a quality O line out of a group of unproven players and 30somethings?
    • Do they have enough in the receiving corps?
    • Will they improve on a run defense that allowed 4.6 ypc?
    San Francisco
    • Will Alex Smith develop (with a new OC and FA WRs) into a consistent NFL starting QB?
    • With all the additions on defense, can they improve on a unit that was 26th overall last year (gave up more yards and points than the Rams last year)?
    Arizona
    • Will Matt Leinart take the next step?
    • Will their running game improve?
    • Will their defense, which was 29th overall last year (worse than the Rams) improve?

    Re: Playoffs?

As we stand now, with the horsepower -- I mean rampower -- that we ended last season, we have, IMO, a good shot at the playoffs. It would only make sense that with the added potential we have so far in the offseason ... chances are better, not the same as last year's, but improved.

Playoffs!?! ... Playoffs?!? You better believe it. :r

fftopic: Shredder, did you update your Chiefs / Rams thread? I'll check now.
