I believe what McDaniels was trying to do was exploit the weak Seattle passing attack by spreading wide. In theory, this should have opened the middle of the field, where some intermediate to deep passes could be thrown. Seattle has been vulnerable to this all year.
For some reason, Bradford rarely, if ever, throws to the middle of the field further than 5 or 10 yards.
