A positive twist

I would like to start a thread that compares the 1998 season with the 2008 season. I personally could list about twenty on my own but I want to see what the clan can come up with. I think alot of us will be surprise to see that this years team has alot in common with the 98-99 Superbowl champs Rams.

Let me start this off

Trent Green signed with the Rams in 98 and 08.....

In 98 Rams draft a WR to help Bruce on the other side and in 08 the Rams draft a WR to replace Bruce......

Re: A positive twist

I think you mean '99 instead of '98, right?

Re: A positive twist

Maybe I am confused but I thought the season was the 98 and they won the superbowl in 99?

Re: A positive twist

One year up there D.....but it's all semantics. I get your drift. Let's see.....hmmmm.....the key to the engine was Faulk......and I don't see anything close to him on this squad.

Re: A positive twist

Jackson would not be close if he ran behind an aggressive run blocking line like Holmes and LJ did?

Another comparison would be Vermiel was rumored to be on his way out he had to give up some and empower his Coordinators.....

It seems that Lineham is in the same boat??

Tx,

I think you've been on the dark side too long. It maybe too late to bring you back. I just hope you do not find the failures of the Rams more enjoying than the success cause it's an easy leap.

Positive twist is Faulk is gone and the Rams will never have another MF but Jackson is a top 3 RB and in a good system can be just as productive as MF was in '99.

Go Rams

Close, D. The '98 season was the last of the Tony Banks era.

Lovin' the new sig, tx. Classic.

Of course, since I like canines a lot more than cats, I'd rather be Paris Hilton's puppy than her pu......... Hmm, better stop that one right there.

Re: A positive twist

That would be quite interesting. I really hope we turn this team around like we did in the late 90's. How great would that be?

Re: A positive twist

Interesting thread Double D. How about the Rams signing a young guard named Timmerman in '99 and the Rams signing another relatively unknown guard named Jacob Bell in '08.

WHAT SAY YE?

Re: A positive twist

in 99 and 08 we had the first wideouts taken...

l`roi Glover & Ray Agnew

we had one caucassion lights out, hair on fire DE and one black "finesse" sackmaster DE
in 99 (wistrom & carter) and in 08 (long & little)

we had a second year undrafted fa linebacker that lit it up in london(.com) Fletcher (if memory serves correct on him being in his second year ) and we have Q.C (quality control ) in his second year after being an undrafted free agent who may light it up...

think i`ll guzzle some more Jim Beam and come back to this...

A veteran wr taking young wr under his wing (Holt and Avery)(Bruce and Holt).

No Prime time games.

A very early bye week 99 it was week 2 and this year will be week 5.

Go Rams!!!

Re: A positive twist

  • Fiery new offensive coordinator with a huge playbook running a high flying offense:
    Martz in '99
    Saunders in '08
  • Trent Green signed in the off-season.
