Alan Faneca: Alan will probably want Steinbach/Dockery type of money after watching them get huge paydays this spring, but he forgets his 31 years old. The offer would have to be sweet for Pittsburgh to lose him rather than let him play out his contract.

I'd just like to point out something Nick. Living in the Northeast I've been reduced to watching the Patriots every week since I can't get the Ram's games. And I can tell you that he is the real deal. He started on the bench, but began playing that season where they basically lost everyone in the secondary. From that point to now, he has become the #1 corner on the depth chart. He has always been an excellent corner, who would get anywhere from 1-3 interceptions a year. But last year he exploded onto the scene due to all his interceptions. And you are probably right about wanting the money. That's why the stalemate is occurring. He wants the big bucks, but the patriots who are known for releasing players instead of paying them refuse to cut him. They know that he is too valuable and that they don't have anyone to replace him.
As for the question the only two people I would even consider bringing on board would be either Briggs or Faneca. Briggs would tie up too much money into our linebacking corps. And even if we did acquire him, it would cost us a small fortune to pay him.
As for Faneca he too is looking for the big money. But I believe that I heard that he is also disgruntled with the new head coach and direction that the team is going in. But even if we were to sign him, where would he play? If he plays guard that means that either Icognito or Setterstrom would need to be benched. And it would not be productive for either one of them to not start, when they have the talent to do so.
So I have to go with none.
