I don't really know if this defense is making me comfortable either.

14-3 if I'm not mistaken? How's our defensive backfield playing out there?

I would agree with most of these observations. Hard to make too much out of the first pre-season game, but I think you touched on some accurate observations.

In terms of the opposition, Luck looks very much as advertised. Almost looks like a veteran already out there.

Preseason defensive schemes are really simple. Im not worried about how our D looks Im worried about Jason Smith not getting a hand on his defensive end in pass pro

Luck does look good, but this is a vanilla defense he's facing. But he looks good as did Sam i might add.

I guess I expect to be seeing more now than the receivers actually catching the ball. Hell we saw that in the pre-season last year too. As for Luck looking like a veteran, it might be nice if our offense did more than go past the 50 when the first team was out there. I mean come on, we did that constantly last year, then we got a stupid penalty (which we did in this game too) or called a stupid play and punted. When I see our first team offense drive down and score a touchdown against a first team defense, I will feel much less depressed.

Yeah, pre-season so counts for little really. But there's a few pointers and even from the first couple of plays with the first choice o line in there, Bradford was under real pressure. Colts d line is hardly anything to write home about, so that's concerning.

Silly pens are the kinds of things you don't want to see, no matter when it is. Delay of game pens when the stadium's hardly rocking is irritating and a sign of a team that's not gelling yet.

The second td Lucky threw was impressive. Stared down our opposite safety and then just put it right where he needed to on the other side of the field.

Regardless of what happens here, I think there's a long season ahead. I hope the fans stick with it tho because I like the moves we're making and the turnaround was never going to happen overnight.

Sam looked solid. Would have liked to see him connect on either that deep pass or the key fourth down conversion, but he looked pretty accurate on the short stuff with good ball placement. Nothing spectacular, but solid.

    This might help, it's practice.

From the "Glass half-full" archive. Spags was 10 - 2 in preseason.

So this could be a good sign. : )
