Re: Prognosticate the 2009 Roster
Is Adeyanju gonna be a free agent? If so we need to try and keep him, he plays the run better than any of the other d lineman imho. We need to try to keep OJ and Ron, but we cant forget that they were on one of the worse teams in the NFL, so we cant break the bank for them.

Re: Prognosticate the 2009 Roster
I think Green, Chavous, Glover, Holt are the only ones on the list gone. I also think Pace who is not on the list will be gone.
These following guys could be in question depending on who we sign.
Barron will remain with competition from Greco and Bell for the other OT spot. Adeyanju is a good backup at a low cost he don't apply much pressure on the QB but is solid against the run. Looker is a poor man Proehl he does a good job and don't make many mistakes. Little would only save us 2 mil in cap space by cutting him I don't think we will find a better DE for 2mil.
Guys that most definently should be here:
Incognito, Pisa, Bartell, and Atogwe.

Re: Prognosticate the 2009 Roster
From the listed names, these are my selections for 2009 Rams:
1. Torry Holt (vindication)
2. Richie Incognito (vindication)
3. Ron Bartell (continue growth)
4. O.J. Atogwe (continue success)
5. Victor Adeyanju (continue growth)
6. Leonard Little (one last valiant stand)
7. Pisa Tinoisamoa (achieve expectations)
2009 roster should end up being an improved team. Thanks AV.

Re: Prognosticate the 2009 Roster
Definitely in
1. OJ
2. Bartell
3. Vic
4. Barron
Out
1. Chavous
2. Glover
3. Cogs
4. looker
On the Bubble
1. Holt
2. Green
3. Little
4. Pisa (if we want to get bigger, and Spoon on the weakside)
I think the most interesting name on the list is Pisa. Spoon is most likely moving to the weakside. Pisa was playing effectively this year at about 222 pounds and Spags generally plays with bigger backers.

Re: Prognosticate the 2009 Roster
Yeah I have to agree with most of the names popping up thus far. Kind of surprised to see so few votes for Big Game. I realize that he's on his last legs, but it's no reason to get all Jerry Rice/Isaac Bruce on the guy.
That and I hope most of the blown out of proportion "I'd rather be in Carolina" stories were just that.
Otherwise my two cents are keep Cogs, if anything he's depth and you need that.

Re: Prognosticate the 2009 Roster
Interesting that every voter so far has included Atogwe in their prognostication.
Trent Green, I think, may be may sheerly for lack of a better option.

Re: Prognosticate the 2009 Roster
Yeah I figured they will probably bring in a young QB for the #3 spot and keep Green as the #2 at least for one more season. Going with only 2 QB's on the roster was something we tried recently and it didn't work out for us and both Green and Bulger are very likely to get injuries, so I think we're going with 3 again this year and Green will be one of them. I think it's a must to get a young #3 QB that we can try to develop, it would have been even better if we'd got one in last year's draft.
I think Glover, Chavous and Holt are gone.
Dane Looker is as always a 50-50 shot to make the roster, but I think he manages to make the team once again.
Incognito maybe shouldn't make the team, but I think he will for lack of depth and to give him one last shot to show what he's got.
The rest I'm pretty sure will make it, unless we make a stupid decision to let Bartell or Atogwe walk in free agency. If we do they will easily find a job elsewhere IMO.

Re: Prognosticate the 2009 Roster
Interesting results so far. Particularly, the fact that Incognito and Holt are both hovering around 50%.
Welcome to the St. Louis Rams!

I went with:
Incognito
Bartell
Atogwe
Barron
Tinoisamoa
The rest, hey it's the NFL. Thanks for the memories.

Re: Prognosticate the 2009 Roster
Is there another website that keeps stats updated as well as weight cause in NFL.com they have Pisa at 240.
If Pisa gains that weight back wouldn't he be retained? I could see Witherspoon gaining a bit more and playing SAM and Curry in the middle. You know if we draft him.

How in the world did Chavous get 11 people to vote for him? I didn't know he had 11 family members that frequented the Clan.

Re: Prognosticate the 2009 Roster
I don't believe you can think about the upcoming season without OJ Atogwe. Honestly, he is the only piece up there that I want to think is a LOCK. With a defense orriented coach coming into the team, I think he would have seen alot of film on OJ, or at least noticed his skill. Has anyone else ever thought, "WoW, this guy is really good. What if he was playing on a better team? Gosh I wish the Rams were better, this guy would dominate if we could keep a lead and force the pass..."
I know I have. He could very well be one of the best at his position, but until the team actually contends, he's just going to be a guy on the field, reaping the rewards of opponents laziness while cruising through a game. He should be a perennial pro-bowler, and should always have his name mentioned in defensive player of the year talk. When he plays for a capable squad, his name will be much more well known.
As for Big Game T-Holt, my favorite player in the NFL, it is getting to a sad point in football for me. He is amazing. He can catch anything, and runs routes better than 90% of the receivers in the league. Sure he isn't breaking away with rediculous speed, but that's why you add to the receiving squad to take that necessity away. If all he needs is one cut on a play to be open, (and that's all he needs) than he can still tear a defense open. Problem is, I want to see development, not retainment.
Holt is getting older, and is over his "hill" or "peak" or "whatever" and now we're to the point of no return. If you aren't getting "better" I think it's time to say farewell. We are rebuilding, and I want to see some new faces that will fight for starting spots, and compete over each other to better each other and themselves. I am 50/50 on Holt, because having him around as a mentor for young guys would be a good thing, but I think he is too soft spoken towards those guys to really lead someone onwards. Avery came in and, although it wasn't spectacular, had a decent rookie year. I would prefer to get a quick, elevationally gifted Receiver like Crabtree into the offense. Hopefully one that umm...doesn't shoot himself in the leg. Ahhh the good old days of Harris Smith.
Anyways, he may come back, he may not. It would be good if he did, but I don't think it's critical, as horrible as I feel saying it. It's life, it's the NFL, move Onwards to a better place with better things. Hopefully it can end the way Warner and Bruce did. They went somewhere they were happy, and began to have success. Maybe Holt can go to Carolina and have a good finish to his career with Steve Smith opening things up for him.
