I didn't see the game but I suppose the Ref. instinctively was protecting himself and put up a stiff forearm. Did he hit him or was Darby just trying to avoid the official, hence the head leaning back?

All kidding aside, this is absolutely ridiculous that a referee could be this incompetent ...

I watch so many games and see these referees moving out of the way, ducking to avoid passes, doing whatever they can to stay out of the action ...

Then this absolutely refuses to move and not only potentially costs Darby and the Rams a big gain, but physically knocks him down. Not just protecting himself, but actually physically assaults Darby ...

This idiot should be fined and suspended, if anything, for just being lazy and incompetent ...

Yet, again, the league will do nothing as the quality of officials continues to spiral out of control ...

Boy when it rains it pours .. I don't think the ref deliberately tried to screw up the play, he was just protecting himself. When Jim Haslett put the same move on an opposing player, we ate it up. Tough guy coach!

We need better players, and better coaching .. If Jay Z. is really on his way out this will be a huge addition through subtraction. It's a start anyway ..

Last I checked, the refs aren't playing football and they don't have a right to ANY spot on the field. They are supposed to be TRANSPARENT. I never knew that players had to run around officials to get where they needed to be. He could have very easily gotten out of the way, like 95% of other officials do, but he chose not to, just because he didn't feel like it. It's not like Darby just ran into him, he got physical with Darby ....
