question about the GSOT- need help from the clan

Guys, i need some help. I have recently moved into a new house and am in the process of reallocating space to the various components of my Rams collection. This has been an ongoing project since I moved in during December of 2012. I am struggling to get as much done as possible prior to the draft, although i know i won't be completely ready until the season starts.

Question is this- when does the GSOT end? Context- I have an entire section devoted to the super bowl championship team, but i now have the space to also display a reasonable independent section on the GSOT, which have more of an emphasis on post 1999 season to avoid significant redundancy. The 2001 team broke my heart (and actually think it was a better team than the 1999 team and probably the second best team in the history of the league after the patriots team that was undefeated and lost to the giants to not win it all) and it will get prominent recognition. However, what i have always struggled with, is whether the 12-4 2003 team and the 2004 team that won the playoff game in Seattle count as part of the tail end of the gsot.

The 2003 and 2004 teams both continued to have martz at the helm. Faulk, Bruce, Pace remained major stars. Sure, Bulger took over during 2003, and warner was gone at the end of the season, but the team was still pretty prolific offensively. Jackson had a solid, but not spectacular rookie season in 2004, but he is generally never spoken of with respect to the GSOT. Many cite 1999-2001, but that is not correct in my view since 2002 certainly counts, even though it was a down year, it was still the same personnel, albeit on the greatly reduced production side. I guess you could take the view that 2002 doesnt count since it was at that point a "show" on turf but no longer the "greatest" show on turf.

I look forward to the views of everyone on this board, as that will be critical in my final determination on how to separate the various eras as i allocate space and organize the display.

To answer your question, GC, I personally define the GSOT period as 1999-2001. While I clearly am more of a Marc Bulger fan than a lot of people around here, I don't think its truly the GSOT without Kurt at the helm.

NFL Network has their Top 10 show, and the GSOT was featured as a Top 10 nickname. They also said it was 99-01.

I agree with the others, no Kurt Warner means no great show.

In my opinion, it all starts and ends with Warner, Faulk, Holt, Bruce and Pace. For me the operative word in the GSOT is "Greatest." They weren't too great in 2002. My vote would be '99-'01.

hey hey, easy there big man, it was meant to be taken sarcastically.

I take the time to come on these boards because we share a common passion, im not criticising anyone.

Why not just arrange them in date order? or does it need to be a GSOT specific section?

    As was my retort.

I think some pictures of your Rams museum are definitely in order.

GSOT ended with Kurt Warner as starting QB.

for me i would say when it was the Panthers playoff defeat in what 2003?..when Martz went for the FG instead of going for the win..GSOT was about going for it at all times imo..not going for the "safer" option.

I kind of liked our 2007 team...NOT! (actually just looked it up and was surprised to see that Isaac Bruce and Torry Holt were still on the team?)

99-01 for sure. These were the 3 years we put up 500+ points consecutively and went to 2 superbowls.

Re: question about the GSOT- need help from the clan

For sure without Faulk, at his best, the GSOT is done. Az Hakim was gone after 2001, so I would call 1999 to 2001 the real GSOT years. HAd Warner not gotten hurt, I have no doubt 2002 would have been included.

The first six games of 2002, the Rams averaged about 15 pts a game, and so, I'd say the GSOT was GONE for sure by then.
