The question I'm not quite ready to answer.

Its getting close to that time again...

In a few weeks, we'll be talking about training camp, preseason, and opening day.

At this point, I think the roster is pretty much set. Maybe the Rams will make a late move to bring back Quintin Mikell but, aside from that, I'm not expecting any significant transactions.

So... am I ready to answer that question....

    You know the one...

How many games with the Rams win this year?

    I'm not ready.

Certainly, I think the team should be improved. Offensive continuity, the addition of speed and playmakers on both sides of the ball, the development of young players... all of these things point the arrow up.

But does that mean the Rams will go from 7.5 wins to 8... 10.... more?

Here's my best answer right now.

I believe that the Rams have enough talent on their roster to win 10 games. And, because I believe that, I also regard the Rams as a playoff contender.

Maybe, in the end, I'll cop out a little and just predict 8-10 wins. That seems to me to be a fairly safe bet.

But, before I give my final number, I want to read a few camp reports (though they must be taken with a large grain of salt), watch a preseason game or two, and read up on the competition.

So, I'll get back to you in about 6 weeks with my final answer.

For now... I'm starting to get that feeling again...

    Oh yeah, that one. Obviously.

Like you said, there's still plenty of information that needs to be digested before one can make a meaningful prediction about how many games the Rams could win this year. But I don't have any doubt that this team has improved. Whether or not that's reflected in the win-loss column, we shall see.

Six weeks from now is exactly the day before our first preseason game against the mighty Cleveland Browns (August 8th). So maybe after we demolish the dog pound, we'll get your prediction Av?

How about you Nick? When will we get your prediction?

Regardless of training camp .........exhibition games.......competition........

I FULLY expect an improved offense, a defense that has talent to be top 5 in NFC and special teams improvement across the board. Having said that, we did win 7 games last year and tied one more. I'd say right now it is 10 games for me. AND I truly see us as a bona fide PLAYOFFF contender this year

    You got it Mac!

Totally agree in terms of expecting an IMPROVEMENT on offense and defense, ST too! I also 'feel' AV's inability to answer 'The' question but agree with the observations made regarding an 8 - 10 W range.

Let's make it NINE minimum for the Rams!

It's easy for me. I'm always conservative, so I'll go ahead and give you the 8-10 game prediction now

Re: The question I'm not quite ready to answer.

Not sure after training camp or exhibition games we will know much more about this offense other then who are the starters.

As far as making a prediction just too many questions that can only be answered as the season is played out.

Jake Long will he stay healthy and find his pro bowl form?
Scott Wells will he stay healthy and find his pro bowl form?
Rodger Saffold will he make the adjustment to the right side and stay healthy?
Tavon Austin will he learn multiple positions and be extremely productive or will he be limited in his first year as a rookie?
Jared Cook does he produce like he has never done before now that he will be featured?
Brian Quick will he make a huge jump or just a small step forward?
Chris Given can he duplicate his rookie year or exceed it?
Austin Pettis is he really the best receiver on this team and if so will he take a huge jump in year three?
Steven Jackson will a running back by committee be more productive or fail to have an impact?
Sam Bradford can he make enough plays with this young group to win games week in and week out?
Schotty can he get the max out of all the young talent?

With so many questions my guess is we could win the same amount of games as last year but no less due to the defense. If enough of the new pieces on offense play well we could win 10 plus games.

Re: The question I'm not quite ready to answer.

    Here is my prediction -

The Rams start out explosive and win 8 out of their first 10 games and will cruise from there into the playoffs. There is no team on the schedule in the first 10 that they cannot beat and beat easily. Either the 9ers or the Seahawks will not, repeat NOT, make the playoffs. My guess is SF will not make it this year as they have some real issues at the WR position.

the band has shown up, dancers are on the floor, and we are waiting on the first note to be played to start it all. Everything looks good on paper so far and maybe with a few pickups on Offense after preseason--who knows. But if you had to craft a team based on what you face in the division, I doubt anyone could do much better then what the Rams have done so far

Bradford's must take every snap cause behind him we got nothing.

    With SB: 9ish

    No Sam: Nada
    The break, don't bend offense.

Re: The question I'm not quite ready to answer.

Unless Fisher and Snead have completely miscalculated, I don't see how we fail to win at least 9 games this year. If there are no major injury problems, we're ready to take the next step and become a playoff team.
