Quick, Rams' 2nd-round pick, agrees to terms
BY KATHLEEN NELSON
The Rams nudged closer to getting all their draft picks in the fold after agreeing to terms with second-round pick Brian Quick, a wide receiver out of Appalachian State.
That leaves just two draft choices unsigned, both cornerbacks — second-round pick Janoris Jenkins out of North Alabama and third-round pick Trumaine Johnson of Montana.
Under the new NFL collective bargaining agreement, players fit into salary slots based on draft order, making holdouts a thing of the past.
"It's a much simpler process for both sides," said Kevin Demoff, the Rams' executive vice president for football operations. "It takes the anxiety away from the players. They aren't worried about if or when they will get to sign. They can worry about adjusting to the NFL."
Quick seemed to second Demoff. He said he didn't know when he would sign the contract because he was more concerned about studying the playbook, then translating the plays on the field.
His first priority after he gets a little money, though, is "a place to stay. I'm not going to buy a house, but I'm going to rent out an apartment," he said.
