Re: Raise your hands.....how many of you expected to be 4-2

I have to agree "Rambruce" we are a head of # of wins than i thought we would be as well , thing are only going to get better I think this was a hard lesson to learn today but it might be what we needed if one can get a lesson in a losing effort and i think we can , I think we can make it to the playoffs ...

I have tried my best to stay positive I will not sit here and say the season is lost. I still beleive we will challenge for the division title. I think this is a playoff team that will play every game tough and always be in it. I will admit though this one hurt alot. The quick change of emotion just takes so much outta you. I had to go to work afterwards too. Im really just numb right now and cannot wait till tommorow when I imagine I will stop thinking about the game every 3 seconds. 4-2 is a good start Im very happy at this point of the season.

Wow, glad to hear you overcame whatever it was that happened and are able to come back to the clan. I'm fairly new here, so I can't say I know you very well, but look forward to getting to know more about you and your story thru your posts.

I predicted a 5-1 start and having watched every game I know that like others have said we could be 6-0 as easily as we could be 0-6. We HAVE to start putting teams away. The killer instinct to dominate on both sides of the ball isn't there yet and I'm hoping it will come after seeing a big lead slip away like it did today. It's gonna be a long bye week and I hope we come back from it ready to rock n roll because it's not gonna get any easier angainst the chargers, panthers, bears, and seattle again. I'm looking forward to the final ten games and I hope we can get some blowout wins under our belt so we can all breathe a little easier.

Sorry, I expected to be 5-1 going into the bye week, I thought this would be our loss and we would go 4-0 before this one.

Let's look at the positives, we are still 4-2, our offense is looking much better and more in sync. We hung with (and almost beat) the NFC champs down to the last second FG. Spoon and Chavous have been great additions. We aren't turning the ball over as much as we used to which keeps us in every game. Turk has been great. Jackson has been the man, and Bulger, Holt, and Bruce have been well.....Bulger, Holt, and Bruce. We are actually using a TE in the passing game and Klop is coming along nicely.

I don't think your post is positive enough. I wrote this season off before it began. I didn't think the coaching change could be accomodated in one year. I had very low confidence and expectations from rookie coach Linehan and Mr. H.. They simply need time to get in phase and get the new team in phase. Capacitors and resistors, transistors, ICs, and process software need to be tweaked before a product functions properly, how much more so a football team.

In a very short period of time Linehan has put together an average team, and addressed some big needs. Based upon that, I cannot but expect a SB run next season. Don't accuse me of being too optimistic, but I've been pleasantly surprized and am astonishing pleased. Even if we end up less than 8-8, I think coach Linhan will have done a good job.

Like supporting the military vs. the war

This thread reminds me of the issue of supporting the military does not mean supporting the war (or vice versa I guess).

Is 4-2 a decent start - yes given all the change BUT it does not bode well for the future (this season).

The Rams have beaten ONE good team (the Broncos); squeaked by a bunch of mediocre teams where they have been lucky to win (fumbles at the end in two of them); lost to a poor team (the Whiners); lost at HOME to the key division rival, with their starting All-Pro running back out - and falling behind in all the key tie breakers meaning winning the division will be very difficult; AND the toughest part of the season is coming up.

So if your post was about the future past this season - I like what I'm seeing. Draft some pass rushers, another corner, and some seasoning, and this will be a very good team.

However, if your post is about this season. 4-2 is about the worst record you would expect an average to slightly above average team to have given the schedule. If that's the bar - then yes this is an average to slightly above average team - with a promising future.

I thought we would be 5-0. So my hand is up, I will take 4-2 knowing the O is playing very well and the D is much improved.

Re: Raise your hands.....how many of you expected to be 4-2

    Lets take a look:

vs. Denver Broncos -- this is a game most Rams fans didn't expecet to win (even though it was at home); therefore before the season 0-1.

@ St. Francisco ***** -- come on now this is the whiners 1-1

@ Arizona Cardinals -- all the hype every year with these Cardinals; but the Rams were on the road, but we are a better team even before the season started 2-1.

    vs. Detroit Lions -- 3-1

    @ Green Bay Packers -- 4-1

vs. Seattle Seahawks -- we were not favored, and were not expected to win this game -- 4-2

I will take this record all day; but we have to keep this momentum going; we have a tough schedule ahead

    @ San Diego Chargers 4-3

    vs. Kansas City Chiefs 5-3

    @ Seattle Seahawks -- 5-4;

    @ Carolina Panthers -- 5-5

    vs. San Francisco ***** -- 6-5

    vs. Arizona Cardinals -- 7-5

    @ Chicago Bears -- 7-6

    @ Oakland Raiders -- 8-6

    vs. Washington -- 9-6

    @ Minnesota Vikings -- 10-6

    OVERALL 10-6 (WHO WOULDN'T TAKE THAT) :l :r :l :r :l :r

2-1 at home not bad. 2-1 on the road very good. Let's give Seattle some credit here. This game was alot bigger for them than us. They rallied like all good teams do. We rallied and got beat by a 54 yd fg. The thing that hurts is that I could taste 5-1 and the Seahawks pulled it right out of my mouth.

    Rams have arrived !

The purpose of this thread is to look at where we came from, what we are doing now, and also how the future looks. There are PLENTY of negative threads about how bad "this" or "that" is for everyone to post in. Many make sensible realistic posts about what we really are, but there are still a few who just trash everything, and after a while that gets old. I wanted to look at some of the improvements. We still have a lot of work to do, but it seems to be coming together a little bit at a time.

Re: Raise your hands.....how many of you expected to be 4-2

I will admit I was not too happy about some things in this game, like the loss, the officiating, the defense, Pace acting like he came back too soon, but the one thing I was the most unhappy with was the squawks fans whose actions were reminiscent of whiner fans. Don't misunderstand me, there are some really decent hawk fans, and they are the ones who knew that this game could go either way, and they didn't gloat over the win. In fact, a couple of them reminded me of something...I didn't expect to be 4-2 after this week. (BTW Blue Talon, I'm serious about buying you a beer when I get back to Texas...)

4-2. Just a couple of numbers, but they are important.

Those numbers show we aren't the bottom feeders everyone expected us to be. They show that our team is better than the experts know. And, that the Rams are possibly on the road to a 10-6 season, as I predicted, although they took a different road than I expected.

During pre-season, most of us here had really high hopes. The pre-season let us down. We hoped for a miracle season, but we saw mediocrity headed our way.

Then, we beat Denver. We won by defense....something I cannot remember the last time it happened.

True, we lost to the freakin' whiners. That's when a lot of things were said about the win against Denver being a fluke.

Then, we won our next game. Barely. We repeated that the next two games. It looked like we might have a chance. We were up a half game on Seattle.

Then we lost to the squawks.

I didn't like to lose, but I did like the explosiveness our O showed in the first half. I liked seeing Bulger relax a little after he threw that interception, showing that the pressure of perfection is a little bit more than he wanted to deal with. I liked seeing Torry get over 10,000 on that gorgeous catch he made. And 3 TD's for the first time....

But mostly I liked how we proved to everyone, including ourselves, that we CAN run with the big dogs again. In fact, we are 1-1 against the 'big dogs'.

I'd say that we have a LOT to smile about. A better team this year is the ice cream. The win against Denver is the hot fudge. Almost beating Seattle is the whipped cream. A playoff spot would be the cherry on top.

Now, we have 10 more games to find out what the sprinkles are....

(Thanks to Sami for the idea of the ice cream analogy.)

Dez, you had us losing to the raiders?
Week 14: @Raiders. Rams on a 4 week winning streak. It come screeching to a halt as the Raiders stomp on the Rams. Black & Silver beats Blue & Gold.
