    Ram nickname game

Thought we would try something fun.

Lets see how many Ram player nicknames we can come up with. After thinking of one, then try and find out why that player received his nickname.

    I will start:

"Hacksaw" Jack Reynolds--Received his name for sawing his car in half with a hacksaw. According to football legend, got so angry following a loss to Mississippi while playing college football at Tennessee in 1969 that he sawed a jeep in half.

    Jim "Chris" Everett

Received his nickname from pompus little Jim Rome. It all started in the 89 NFC Championship game vs The Whiners. After being beat up all game long Everett fell down in the pocket without being touched. Many call it the phantom sack. Many viewed this as a sign of weakness. So Jim Rome started calling Him Chris Everett after the female tennis player. Things escalated when on Romes talk show he called Jim Everett Chris. This lead to Everett turning over a table and pushing Rome backwards in his chair. I still beleive it was all staged for publicity.

Jim Everett was also "The Blade", I think as a result of his thin face?

    Good idea, Wraith.

He was never "The Bus" when he was a Ram. That's why I didn't mention it.

    Willie "Flipper" Anderson

Anderson got his nickname from his grandmother, who taught him how to make noises like Flipper the dolphin.

    Craig "Ironhead" Heywood

Not positive but my guess is because he was tough, had a hard head, and laid some big hits while he was carrying the ball.

David "Deacon" Jones". He came up with the nickname himself because he didn't think anyone would remember a player named David Jones. He picked "Deacon" because it had a religious connotation and would be remembered in the violent pro football world.
