    Ram notes from the 1380

    per Playmaker:

Jim Thomas, Rams beat writer for the Rams was just on "The Roll Home" with Bernie and Randy. Here are the highlights.

The Rams are in worst salary cap shape than many realize, even him. They are awfully snug and he will have an article in tomorrow's Post-Dispatch about this.

He is more convinced now that Isaac Bruce will be cut because of the cap situation.

Leonard Little will be at Rams Park on Monday to visit with team doctors. The doctors will look at his injured toe and then the team will determine whether to cut Little.

Linehan had 10 media people at his press conference today in Indy.

If Bruce must go as a salary cap casualty, I sincerely hope he can hook up with a team that has a chance of getting him another Super Bowl ring (although it would kill me if he became a Patriot).

I could live with Bruce being a Charger. Spanos, the owner, is from Stockton, CA where I live (I have actually sat at a park bench and talked to the man here in town. Very unassuming and down to earth.)

Couldn't we cut him and resign him to a more cap-friendly deal? There has gotta be something constructive that can be done.

Yes we can. That's what happened last time, Bruce could make another *wink* *wink* type of deal where the Rams know he will re-sign with them.

He deserves better than how we are treating him, but we are in a hole. Do we stay loyal or become a ruthless orginization with such huge desire to get younger and better and cut one of our all time greats

Bruce started a Ram and need to retire a Ram. He adjusted and made that great catch to win us a Super Bowl. In this case the organization needs to stay loyal.

cut him and restructure his deal. He wants to be back and play under Saunders and to retire a Ram. He will just have to do it for less money.

I just hope if we do the cut and restructure with Ike, we're not left hanging too long before it's announced. That got very dicey last time.

Is it being ruthless or being realistic? Bruce is good but not good enough to command the money his contract mandates. Let's hope he is willing to renegotiate a deal that is good for him and the Rams.

Tell me about it. Since my family was stationed over seas in Japan, the time differences are alot. So after school everyday, I would run home to check up on the status. I would do it everyday until I heard the news.

I hope he stays as a Ram. He's spent his career here....why not finish it. Or just...retire. haha

Re: Ram notes from the 1380

I do wonder if one of these days we aren't going to get stuck in a cap purge. We have all this aging talent, and it doesn't exactly seem like we're on the verge of winning it all. If at some point we decide to go into full-blown rebuilding mode, we could see some big names cut for real...and not just the two day renegotiation we've seen before. I don't know if it's happening this time around, but if we really are 28th in the league in cap room, it's possible.
