Re: Ram Statute at the EJD (The Poll)

I vote for the "Waterfield - Gabriel - Warner" statue mentioned by me in the other thread. One should not forget that the Rams came from Cleveland via L.A., and we should not forget the past glories just because they didn't happen in St. Louis. On the other side of the coin, we cannot do *just* the Fearsome Foursome, because it does not have a direct link to St. Louis.
Oh....guess I can't vote....no one put my idea on the poll....

No offense to Warner, but how anyone can vote for him over Bruce.....after Warner played such a short time with the Rams and Bruce has been a big part of the Rams..........is beyond me.

Let me see if I can clear things up.

With Warner at the helm....2 Super Bowl appearances in three years.

Without Warner...no Super Bowl appearances since 1979.

    Does that help?

Excellent, Yo! Yes, I believe that "helps"...

Seriously though, the hypothesis of this monument is not necessarily selecting the 'best' of Rams, but the representative value of the team in the body of one, two or three players -- reflecting the history, the image, the era of our NFL teams.

That is why I vote for the Waterfield / Gabriel / Warner trio.

You could apply the same logic to Adam Timmerman.

I think the monument should have a representative from the offensive line, and if there is going to be one, it should most definately be one sporting a flat-top.

I suppose that would be easier to carve.

Caught the Super Bowl winning touchdown....

Re: Ram Statute at the EJD (The Poll)

I agree with Tx. We're talking about a monument that would represent decades of Rams football and stand for decades more. As good as Warner's three year run was, he is a poor choice for that honor.

And, before I get accused of being a Warner hater again, I'd feel the same way about a statue of Faulk.

I voted for "the Tackle" because it would depict a moment, rather than a player.

Re: Ram Statute at the EJD (The Poll)

I just don't think there is one player that will truly sum up this franchise (be it, Bruce, Warner, Youngblood, or whoever). There would have to be some kind of collage or something to do this thing justice.

Putting up either Bruce or Warner alone would be a crime, if you were to ask me. No one did, but if you were to...

Actually, I don't need any help and here's why. I'm not the one who took offense and then felt the need to question why someone would want any particular player represented on said monument. Nor did I even suggest that I felt any particular player should be on it, in fact I didn't even give an opinion on this thread. My response was to your question on why anyone would want Warner on the monument. Let me refresh your memory....

I guess the moral of the story is if you don't want to hear an answer...it's best to not ask the question.
