Ramblings: Kirwan says Rams can get Jones
March 30, 2011
Pat Kirwan of nfl.com and Sirius NFL Radio came out with his latest mock draft, and has Alabama wide receiver Julio Jones being selected by the Rams with the 14th pick in the first round.
Jones was available because Kirwan has four defensive ends being selected with the ninth through 12th picks, and then tackle Anthony Castonzo going to Detroit with the 13th choice.
The ends are J.J. Watt, Robert Quinn, Ryan Kerrigan (also projected as an outside linebacker) and Cameron Jordan.
Kirwan wrote, "There's a school of thought that Jones will be gone by this spot, and that might very well be true. For now, he's a perfect fit in St. Louis. It will be interesting to see just how high he can go in the draft coming off foot surgery."
In his two-round draft, Kirwan had the Rams selecting Clemson defensive tackle Jarvis Jenkins in the second round.

The Huddle says Jordan for Rams
The Huddle Report did a five-round mock draft matching team needs with their value board and done on a computer.
Their five picks for the Rams were defensive end Cameron Jordan, California; running back Mikel Leshoure, Illinois; wide receiver Tandon Doss, Indiana; linebacker Casey Matthews (brother of Packers linebacker Clay Matthews), Oregon; and cornerback Buster Skrine, Chattanooga.
Sando sticks with Onobun
In his analysis of NFC West tight ends, Mike Sando of ESPN.com listed Fendi Onobun of the Rams as, "Do not write off yet." Sando said, "The team thought during training camp that Onobun would earn snaps as a rookie. Can Onobun become more than a converted basketball player?"
March 29, 2011
In an analysys of NFC West tight ends, Mike Sando of ESPN.com said the Rams' Michael Hoomanawanui has the most upside.
Wrote Sando, "The rookie caught scoring passes covering 25 and 36 yards in his final two starts before injury removed him from the lineup. Hoomanawanui caught three scoring passes in eight games. Teammate Daniel Fells has five touchdowns in 42 games with the Rams. Billy Bajema has two in 29 games. Hoomanawanui shiowed he can pass-protect as well."
Bajema's two scores came last season in a Week 12 win over Denver, and are the only touchdown catches of his career.
I seriously doubt JJ will be there for us but have to agree with Onobun's and HooHoo's assessment, they do look promising.

I have to agree that Hoomanawanui has the most upside of the Rams tight ends, although in the NFC West, I'd say he's still taking back seat to Vernon Davis for the time being.
