Rams 2008 53-man Roster (Post Draft Version)
Here's my first crack at the 2008 roster:
QB (3): Bulger, Greene, Berlin
RB/FB (5): Jackson, Pittman, Leonard, Minor, McAnderson
WR (6): Holt, Bennett, Avery, Burton, Caldwell, Stanley
TE (3): McMichael, Klopfenstein, Becht
OL (9): Pace, Barron, Bell, Incognito, Setterstrom, Greco, Scheuning, Romberg, Fry
DE (4): Little, Long, Hall, Adeyanju
DT (4): Carriker, Ryan, Glover, Wroten
LB (6): Witherspoon, Tinoisamoa, Draft, Culberson, McGarigle, Vobora
CB (6): Hill, F.Brown, Bartell, Wade, King, Macklin
S (4): Atogwe, Chavous, Carter, Johnson
K (1): J.Brown
P (1): Jones
LS (1): Massey
I see Chamberlain as a project who will likely start the year on the practice squad.
McAnderson, signed as an undrafted FA, has a good chance of making the roster if he shows some promise as a lead blocking FB.
Vobora and McGarigle get roster spots at this point pretty much by default, as the Rams are pretty thin at LB. I would expect them to sign a veteran after the June 1 cuts are made.
I also have Berlin as the #3 QB, though I hope the Rams will try to find some competition there as well. Perhaps they will look to make a trade for some other team's #3, much like the Bengals traded for Fitz last year. Another guy who might be worth a look is Byron Leftwich, who is currently a free agent.
At safety, Bassey could crack the lineup and supplant Johnson or Carter, given his special teams prowess. The Rams might also look at the post-June 1 cuts to bolster this position.Last edited by AvengerRam; -05-05-2008 at 06:33 PM.

I don't see Stanely making it. I see the human joystick as the final WR, for special team purposes, He ran two back last year. That's what you want from a kick or punt returner, two or more a season.

WR is the only area I see that I don't completely agree with. Your version maybe 100% accurate but I don't like Reche Caldwell one bit.
The guys been in the league 6 years and really hasn't done squat.
152 catches for 1,851 yards, 11 TD's and 7 lost fumbles. The majority of the numbers were compiled in one season with the Patriots.
I would much rather see us hang onto Hagans or Dante' Hall for that matter.
Other than that, great list Av.

If we could get a SS, post-June 1 cuts that would be great. The Rams might also look at the post-June 1 cuts to bolster this position.
I think Hall will makes it, he was just to good last year, if he can stay healthy. He did play WR last year, I don't see him doing that. Maybe he can hold on FG lol. If Hall's only job is to return, he will make some plays.
I wounder if they will try and use Becht as a lead blocker.
Wroten last chance, I hope he can turn it around 3rd pick!
On paper the DB's look weak, Little and Long are going to have to help them out.Last edited by Rambos; -04-30-2008 at 11:52 AM.

I'm not a big fan of Caldwell either, but I doubt they signed him just to cut him, unless he completely stinks up the joint in training camp.
As for Hall, I think the two rookie WRs, along with King, may take over the kick and punt returning duties, ending Hall's stay here.Last edited by AvengerRam; -04-29-2008 at 03:51 PM.

I think thats pretty decent. I don't see Hall, Hagans and Looker on the squad. I like this.
Good job AV

I would still like to see us bring back steussie for depth at tackle, rather than rely on rookies as backups.

Here's another non-fan of Caldwell, lol.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again, the only memory I have of him is him dropping that wide open pass for the Patriots in one of the biggest playoff chokes I have ever seen against the Colts a few years ago.

What about Steven Jackson's boy Yvensen Bernard? Can he get into the running back mix?... Or is he more likely to make the practice squad instead..

Re: Rams 2008 53-man Roster (Post Draft Version)
I see (or I would like to see) both Halls on 53 R. Dante, of course, but also Vince, our UDFA. I would be really surprised when he wouldn't succeed in competition of Culberson, McGarigle and Vobora. I like Bernard, but he'll hardly reach final roster and McAnderson would be intersting. Should I even mention what I feel about Caldwell!? Somehow, I start to feel sorry for this guy. He's busted! Oh, yes, I hope that FO will finnally reach The Ultimat Conclusion and sign again one and only Mr. CornerRam, Jerametrius Butler!!!

Re: Rams 2008 53-man Roster (Post Draft Version)
If I'm Brock Berlin, I immediately move my locker next to Josh Brown. I take him out to dinner. I buy him presents. I set him up with 18-year-old Asian hookers dressed as Catholic school girls. Whatever it takes to make sure Josh Brown pushes Linehan to keep Berlin as the holder.
And if I'm Dane Looker, I make sure that Brock Berlin gets one of his hands bitten off by a Rottweiler."Before the gates of excellence the high gods have placed sweat; long is the road thereto and rough and steep at first; but when the heights are reached, then there is ease, though grievously hard in the winning." --- Hesiod
