Rams' 2009 opponents are set
Rams' 2009 opponents are set
By Bill Coats
ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH
12/29/2008
Although the times and dates won't be set until the spring, the Rams know who their opponents are in 2009.
At home, the Rams face Green Bay, Houston, Indianapolis, Minnesota and New Orleans, as well as NFC West foes Arizona, San Francisco and Seattle.
On the road, the Rams play Chicago, Detroit, Jacksonville, Tennessee and Washington, plus their division foes.
Fourteen of the 16 opponents were predetermined entering this season because of the NFL's scheduling formula.
The only games decided based on the Rams' division finish were the New Orleans and Washington contests.
The Saints (NFC South) and Redskins (NFC East) finished last in their divisions, as did the Rams in the West.

I don't know, I don't think that looks like a schedule for a 2nd pick draft team...They are pretty solid teams...

Always and Forever a fan of the St. Louis Rams

only 4 playoff teams in the group,I don't think it looks that bad,of course we are not to good,so with some improvement we have a shot to win a few games.

Re: Rams' 2009 opponents are set
Bummer, I was kind of hoping to go to Philly and hook up with PA and Molach. I was reading on one sight yesterday that they would be in Philly. I can't believe the internet was wrong!

Well that leaves for me and my annual pilgrimage Chicago, Detroit, Jax or Tennessee. I'm leaning towards Chicago or Detroit since I have old friends there I wouldn't mind looking up...
Hmmm...
(Oh and thanks for the post Eldfan!)

Re: Rams' 2009 opponents are set
Wow, the closest game to me is the game @ Washington.
Well, I guess I better start packing now and start walking. I should be able to make it by the time the season starts. I just hope it ain't the last game of the season...

Re: Rams' 2009 opponents are set
the home games dont look too bad..i know its hard to tell at this point and not saying theres any certainties..but the road games are brutal..even taking into the fact, where they ended up..games in Chicago,Jacsonville,Tennessee & Washington ..well even the best in the league find it hard to win in those places!
we are lucky to be our division...altho we didnt win a game against our division Rivals..(the most embarressing fact of the season)..a good Off-season would put our team into the category of serious NFC West contenders, merely because of the weakness of the division.

Re: Rams' 2009 opponents are set
Every season is different. What looks like a hard/easy schedule today could very well turn out to be a easy/hard schedule tomorrow.
My personal favorite is.....Donovan McNabb's education be darned! SOME TEAM HAS TO WIN THIS GAME! And one of these teams WILL snatch defeat from the jaws of victory! On the road, the Rams play ... Detroit"Before the gates of excellence the high gods have placed sweat; long is the road thereto and rough and steep at first; but when the heights are reached, then there is ease, though grievously hard in the winning." --- Hesiod

Re: Rams' 2009 opponents are set
I knew we were playing the AFC south but I was hoping we'd play at Indy as that would be the closest for me other than at Cincy(which was last year... only 6 more to go!).
At Detroit wouldn't be bad if I'm extremely lucky(I fly into and out of Detroit to Asia 3 times a year). Fly up early Sunday, hit the game, and fly out Monday or even late Sunday if possible.
As an NFL team(disclaimer: hopefully by next year we will be) we should be able to go .500 against the NFC North and West and win at least one against the AFC South. Due to historical precedent since 2002, the Saints will go to the playoffs next year(4th place NFC South) and the Skins will be wanting revenge for the game this year, so say we lose both of those, that'll be 6-10.

If I still lived in Jacksonville I'd go there! haha.
But I'll be attending the AZ game.
Also, I wonder who we're bashing next year.

On the road against Washington two years in a row, weird.

Just the way it works out, Nick. Unmentioned in the week 17 playoff seeding aftermath, in possibly the most likely year that New England and Indianapolis would NOT end up in the same place within their divisions, low and behold, they both wound up 2nd, and will thusly play for what seems like the hundredth consecutive year.
