McShay has posted his first 2013 first round mock draft. He has the Rams (with the #2 overall pick) selecting Offensive Tackle Ricky Wagner (wisconsin). With the #8 pick from washington, he has us selecting wr keenan allen (cal). Of note, he has my current favorite college football name (Barkevious Mingo, de LSU) going #9.

Guess he's not expecting much impact from this year's crop, nor from the new coaching staff. #2 overall pick? I know our schedule is tough, but it's easier than last year's. On a side note, these draft pundits have a hard time getting the picks correct the day before the draft; trying to predict it a year out while having to additionally factor in how college players are going to perform is a ludicrous exercise.

I had a look at a 2013 early mock draft on CBS sports, and it linked to 2012s early mock draft. It featured people like Landry Jones and Matt Barkley. Sure, they are good players, but they didn't even end up declaring for the 2012 draft

We may well be picking #2, but with Washington's pick. I expect that our own pick will be somewhere in the neighborhood of #32.

I see us taking the high first round pick that we get from Washington and trading back again to pick up another second round pick in a deal similar to what we did this year. If we get really lucky and washington is bad enough, maybe we will really hit a gold mine and get someone who wants to pay a bundle to trade up and get landry jones or matt barkley.

If Washington lands a Top 5 pick, and Landry Jones and Matt Barkley are Top 5 QBs, I shudder to imagine what we could get out of a trade with some team that is desperately looking for a franchise QB.

The amount of draft picks over the course of 3 years would be astounding.

Let's just sim the 2012 season and get to the 2013 draft.

Vontaze Burfict was touted as a surefire 1st round pick in all mock drafts realized immediately following the 2011 draft....He went undrafted in 2012. Case rested.

That is exactly the kind of name we need to have success on this football team. Keenan Allen's name has "bust" hanging around it. Just not punchy enough. Allen isn't a WR last name at all.
