St. Louis Rams To Add CB Bryan McCann?

The paper thin St. Louis Rams secondary was badly exposed against the Baltimore Ravens this week. Rookie receiver Torrey Smith embarrassed Justin King for three touchdowns and 133 yards on three catches, the first catches of his NFL career. King was filling in for Ron Bartell, who is out for the season, at least, with a broken vertebrae in his neck.

Bradley Fletcher is the only Rams corner of starting quality. Bartell's injury and a training camp loss of Jerome Murphy leaves the Rams with Justin King, Al Harris and Josh Gordy. Suffice it to say that they need help. According to Tony Softli, they may be close to acquiring that help in the form of recently released Dallas CB Bryan McCann.

Softli, chronically unable to hew to Twitter's 140 character limit, tweeted the news moments ago:

Corner help coming for Rams?? - A few League sources are blowing up my IPhone about DC Bryan McCann, Saying he will sign with the Rams today or tomorrow at the latest. He signed with Cowboys last year as an undrafted free agent, In his second game, he had an interception for 101 yards and a TD in a 33-20 victory over the New York Giants, a week later, he returned a punt 97 yards for a touchdown in the Cowboys' 35-19 win over Detroit. The Rams could use this dual performer, keep in mind he was on the street last week.

Seriously, why not just break it up into a couple tweets?

McCann isn't going to make anyone forget about Ron Bartell. An undrafted free agent out of SMU, he made nine appearances for the Cowboys last year and two this year. He was cut so that the receiver starved Cowboys could add former Ram Laurent Robinson.

McCann is fast. He ran a 4.28 forty prior to the draft last year. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if the Rams had him do some returning with Amendola out for the near future. Justin King has that kind of speed, but his coverage instincts are terrible and he seems unable to spot the football in the air. Most describe McCann as a highly competitive player, which begs the question of just how long until the Rams can stifle that trait. (I kid).

At this point, given what we have running around at the corner position, i would welcome the signing of leroy irvin, who i hear is in great shape.

This can't come soon enough for me. King is obviously not an NFL caliber starter, let alone player. Anything has to be better, right??

I thought Justin made some nice hits in run support but he's such a liability in the passing game should he EVER be on the field?

I would love to see McCann sign. We MUST do something.

Surely, this is been a major the wake up call for Spags.! In regards to the talent level needed on a NFL roster, in the secondary anyway.? King has pretty much cost us two games on his own. I really hope he does turns it round, he has put a lot of effort into this program, and the man is very passionate about football.?

This season is going to make him or break him.!!

We will rally around Bryan McCann, and we will play good football...
