Re: Rams add WR Mike Sims-Walker
I love it. Its a one year deal. Kind of a flyer to see if this guy still has it. I still hope we resign Clayton. Kiss Mardy goodbye. He's got no shot of making the team.

Re: Rams add WR Mike Sims-Walker
I wonder why Sims-Walker only commanded a one year deal. I thought that lots of teams would be itching to bring a young guy in on a 3,4,5 year deal. Weird.

I think, as usual--but I think it's great--, we're under the radar. We've had some solid signings today. We've improved significantly.

Re: Rams add WR Mike Sims-Walker
I agree that a one year deal is strange, given that he's a young receiver in what should be his prime(entering 4th year). However, it allows the Rams to gauge how he works with Bradford and in the system. Worst case, we have to franchise him next year before getting a long term deal set up.
I believe!

Re: Rams add WR Mike Sims-Walker
Wow!
MSW is a guy I had my eye on before the draft. After we took Pettis and Salas, I figured the likelihood of a FA WR signing was remote (apart from Mark Clayton).
This is a guy with size, speed and a nose for the end zone.
Well done DeSpags!
Welcome to the St. Louis Rams!

Re: Rams add WR Mike Sims-Walker
From RotoWorld:
Rams agreed to terms with WR Mike Sims-Walker on a one-year contract.
It's a one-year, "prove-it" deal. Sims-Walker has flashed playmaking ability with 14 touchdowns in 27 career starts and a 13.51 yards-per-reception average, but he developed a diva reputation without the production to back it up in Jacksonville. Also very prone to injury, Sims-Walker will have to stay healthy and motivated lock up a roster spot -- much less a starting job. The signing may make it less likely Mark Clayton returns to St. Louis. Jul 29, 9:27 PM

Re: Rams add WR Mike Sims-Walker
Sims Walker is now our second tallest reciever behind DX. What has really held him back is injuries. He has flashed number 1 reciever potential, but he has never been able to stay healthy. IMO with Bradford and McDaniels if he can stay healthy I think he is a guy who can get double digit touchdowns and 1,000 plus yards. I love this signing and I have a feeling we will be paying him big time come next offseason

Sims-Walker adds intrigue to Rams at WR

Donnie Avery and the as-yet-unsigned Mark Clayton give the St. Louis Rams two capable receivers with significant injury concerns.
The newly added Mike Sims-Walker, who agreed to terms on a one-year deal Friday, should fit right in.
Sims-Walker has missed only three games over the past two seasons, but he battled through knee issues and a staph infection in 2010. The Jacksonville Jaguars watched him walk away even though they need help at the position. They told Sims-Walker before the lockout that they planned to move forward without him.
What does that say for a team whose No. 2 receiver is NFC West alumnus Jason Hill?
The one-year deal Sims-Walker will sign says the Rams are taking a low-risk bet on a player with significant unrealized potential. Sims-Walker stands 6-foot-2, weighs 214 pounds and has 14 touchdown passes over the past two seasons. He is 26 years old.
This signing makes sense for the Rams given the low risk involved. The team has more quantity than reliable quality at the position, but it also has in Josh McDaniels a new offensive coordinator whose history suggests he can help a receiver -- whether it be Randy Moss or Brandon Lloyd -- realize more of his potential.

Love the signing, but I hope Clayton returns as well. If he does, it's going to mean some great competition this preseason for the WRs!
