The first three minutes of this Greg Cosell/Adam Caplan video is about Cook...
Film Room: Dynamic Tight Ends
Jared Cook - TE - Rams
Rams agreed to terms with TE Jared Cook on a five-year contract.
Cook, who turns 26 in April, will essentially replace Danny Amendola as the Rams' slot receiver as St. Louis attempts to make more big plays in the passing game. At 6-foot-5, 248, Cook's vertical, straight-line speed has been timed in the 4.4s. The rumored price tag was $8 million per year, which is an awful lot to pay a tight end who's never cleared 50 receptions in a season. The Rams, though, are tired of chain movers like Amendola and Steven Jackson who lack truly big-play ability. Cook, along with Brian Quick -- the organization believes -- has the potential to provide that. He'll be an interesting 2013 fantasy pick with upside. Cook averages 13.1 yards per career catch, with eight touchdowns among only 12 starts (59 games).

Here is Cook's contract:
" Per Jim Wyatt, TE Jared Cook's contract with the#rams is 5 years / $35.1M. A bit less than speculated ($7.5-$8M) but not much. "
Interesting random stats that probably mean nothing. Hey, I'm bored. But, they're kind of interesting.
Vernon Davis-16 games played/548 receiving yards
Jared Cook-13 games played/523 receiving yards
For real though, I'm interested in the amount of the contract. I love the potential Cook holds, but 7-8 million a year!? Thats ALOT! I was thinking six tops.
If it does turn out to be a monster deal, Fisher must really have some tricks up his sleeve with Cook. He coached him, and obviously sees something in him that we really haven't been able to because of the terrible offense the Titans have displayed the past few years.
Great signing, excellent depth.
If this figure is accurate, then Cook is making on average more than Rob Gronkowski but less than Vernon Davis. So needless to say, he's going to have to improve on those receiving numbers quite a bit to earn that money.
As in, he very well could be the Rams' #1 receiving target, because I think the expectation with that deal is going to be 900+ yards and double-digit TDs.
awesome, just awesome!
Now that we have this big guy on board, how about putting an offer sheet in front of victor cruz? give up a first round pick (to a proven and reliable target) and pay the man some dollars.
Quick, Cruz, Givens, Cook and Kendricks....that would keep Sam happy!
The Vatican might not be ready to lock in a new Pope, but I'm really glad we were able to track down JC.
This is a lot of hub-bub (and cap money) for a guy who hasn't done much in this league. At least not enough to be getting Gronk/Davis type dollars. It took him 3 years to rise above the certain-1st-ballot HOFer Bo Sciafe on the depth chart. And I hope that torn rotator cuff is ready to go.
Don't get me wrong....In Fishead We Trust. They certainly knocked the 2012 offseason out of the park, so who I am to doubt this one.
But I'd be lying if I didn't say, this one concerns me a little.
