It seems like a good signing but a bit of a gamble given the contract. I think it's going to be hard to judge until we have a better picture of what happens with other signings. If we're able to fill all the other holes with cap room to spare, fantastic. If, in the end, we wind up spending more to gain the potential of an athletic tight end at the cost of being unable to fully replace the production of one of our most reliable wide receivers, that's not so fantastic.

LOL! With a Starsky & Hutch or, The Mod Squad look, plot and everything.

Seriously though, I'm just wondering if / how the Cook recipe is affecting my boy Danny.

    G R R R R R R!

Sorry, was not aware. Just learned about D.A. moving to New England! AAAARGH!

Was really looking forward to Danny remaining with the Rams! Especially with Cook and Co.

All the best to Amendola. Thanks for the memories ... sans injuries.

Re: Rams Agree to Terms with Jared Cook!!!!

Just a little tidbit for those that don't have these stats handy on our 'probable' starting TE's for 2013. Makes interesting reading anyways. from PFF. stats are 2012.

Pass Blocking ranking. Kendricks ranked 47th. Cook 53rd
Run Blocking ranking. Kendricks ranked 33rd. Cook 23rd

^^both arent in the fantastic range^^

Balls thrown to Lance Kendricks - 56 targets / 41 receptions (73.2%) for 500 yards. off 876 snaps
Balls thrown to Jared Cook - 68 targets / 44 receptions (64.7%) for 517 yards. off 485 snaps

Jared had similar production on almost 1/2 the snaps. Both players had 5 drops each, both scored 4 TD's and averaged around 12 yards per reception.

So i think the whole blocking TE is a little bit over-emphasized (if you agree with PFF that is)

But if Fisher thinks he was underutilized, and misused (and at 485 snaps, he might be right) If he approaches the same number of snaps and gets more opportunities. Could be a great pickup for the rams, and i'd hope for Kendricks production (or efficiency) to go up if he and Cook can create some mismatches.

I think the 35.1 million dollar deal indicates he will be in on way more plays than 485/season for the foreseeable future. Cant wait!

Fisher is known for bringing in some guys with issues... seems like Cook has his head on straight. He could be a very good leader for the young WR in the locker room.

A lot of money for a TE that hasn't had more than 50 catches in a season on a team lacking receivers. He's young and has great athleticism - let's just hope it shows up on game day and that he keeps developing.

    2. We didn't "let two of the best WRs in the NFL go by the boards to divsiion rivals." I wouldn't have even considered Harvin at the price a of three draft choices (1st and 6th this year, 3rd in 2014) and an $11M contract. As for Boldin... I wouldn't pay $6M for a WR who is 33.

You have actually become a parody of yourself, which is saying a lot.
Just to clear things up, I wish my name wasn't bolded/quoted in the pathetic post your response followed up. I am 100% on board with the Cook signing, and TorontoRam is really a waste of time and I do not even understand why the guy is on this board.

Making this young man one of the highest paid TEs in the game is frankly, insane.

He got the most guaranteed money of any tight end, ever, in the history of the NFL.

I don't like that they are over paying for him. You continue to view all Ram issues through rose colored glasses. What a shock.

The Rams signed a 25 year old TE, with elite physical tools, who was considered the top TE on the market, to a deal that counts $4M against the cap this year.

I think my glasses are clear.

Making him a higher paid TE than Gronk and Gates (given what he has actually SHOWN on the field) qualifies the money paid as insane. I have no problem with acquiring the young man, just too much money.

Its FA. 90% are paid more then they should be because if you dont pay them someone else will.

Do i think we overpaid? yes

Do i think we had any other choice if we wanted him? no

Do i like the signing even with so much was given to him? yes

Do i believe in Fishead? yes

Does Bradford needs weapons, especially a stud TE(Sam loved throwing to TE Gresham his sophomore year in college, he was the teams 2nd leading receiver with almost 1k yards and had 14 tds*)? yes

So as the new saying goes...."Keep calm and Snead on"!

*side note. Its crazy that this years leading TE's in the draft have like 600 yards and 5-6 td's, while Bradford threw to Gresham 66 times for 950 yards and 14 td's his sophomore season!!!!
Loving this signing more and more as it sinks in!
