Rams back to LA rumor?
From the Rampagers mailing list...
Hmmm. Here's a peculiar nugget from Tom Jensen's NASCAR column on
SpeedTV.com: "And speaking of stick-and-ball sports, the official
Media Tour Rumor That Refuses To Die is that NASCAR Chairman Brian
France is trying to buy an NFL team. Specifically, multiple sources
close to the situation claim France and Rupert Murdoch's son are
trying to buy the St. Louis Rams and move the team back to Los
Angeles. "Asked about it on the opening day of the media tour,
France's comment was, 'We've got a deep-structured team anyway, but
I'm not planning to go anywhere, and that's really the extent of
anything I could comment to.' Many in attendance took that as a
blanket denial, but we'll have to wait and see. Right now, it's a
rumor, but it's coming from so many different sources and different
directions that it's hard to believe there isn't at least some fire
where there's so much smoke.''

Does that mean they'd play on a grass field?

Re: Rams back to LA rumor?
Move the team from the city that's sold out every game since they've been here. Don't think so.
If it would happen I guess I'd have to move to LA. Anybody have an extra room?

Re: Rams back to LA rumor?
I would like to announce that I am also trying to buy the St. Louis Rams so that I can move them to South Florida. My opening bid is $579.00.
Welcome to the St. Louis Rams!

Re: Rams back to LA rumor?
Yes move the rams from st.louis, were they have had more success than all the years combined in l.a, to L.A were there are no real fans.

Re: Rams back to LA rumor?
Yes the Fans in L.A. are a bit in lala land. But I for one went to as many games as possible. If they came back , I would be out of my head. And new owners to boot! New owners want to win. Georgia and the boys moved to STL for the money and a surprise came about.......A Super Bowl Victory! But I think things are going a little south, so maybe it's time to move back home! Don't get me wrong, I love going to STL and you fans are great there. But I want them back here cause I am here! I guess what the Fans here don't go and see ,the L.A. tv market makes up for! All in all relax STL, them boys ain't going anywhere!
I stopped going to the dentist.......I got tired of the cavity searches!

Re: Rams back to LA rumor?
Very understandable, Theo. And it's the exact same reason, we Missourians want them to stay. If they move, Fox will go back to showing Cowboy games every Sunday. Perish the thought.

TV or not TV
I guess what the Fans here don't go and see ,the L.A. tv market makes up for!

To be sure, the NFL wants increased TV revenue in the LA market.

The individual owners do NOT benefit dierectly from the extra revenue as it is ALL shared (I believe) EVENLY.

So from an owner's standpoint, unless the city subsidizes the operation, what financial advantage is there to having to build your own stadium, fight to fill it, and NOT get the extra TV dough? You may as well move to a Jacksonville, Carolina or Tennessee.

When the league came up with revenue sharing and the salary cap, they did not foresee losing the #2 market as a result.

The only remaining advantage for an L.A. over a Tennessee or Carolina is that with the right NEW stadium, much $$$ can be charged for MANY skyboxes because there's lots of money in that town.

That probably is not good enough.

I'd be in heaven to get my Rams back in California where they belong...
