Rams bringing in AFL Boise Burner stud returner for tryout!!
Boise Burn defensive back/kick returner Terrance Sanders is leaving Boise on Wednesday for an NFL tryout with the St. Louis Rams.
“I’m excited beyond belief,” Sanders said. “This is a moment you work hard your entire life for and I am getting the opportunity to go and finally realize my dream.”
If the Rams offer Sanders a spot in training camp, he will not return to the Burn. If he is not offered a spot, he is expected back in time for Boise’s regular-season finale against Spokane on Saturday.
NFL training camps open next week.
The Eastern Illinois product leads arenafootball2 in kickoff return average (29.7). He is tied for the league lead in kickoffs returned for touchdowns (7) and is among the league leaders in interceptions (7) and missed-field goal return average (31.7).
Sanders leads the Burn in tackles (80.5) and his seven kickoff returns for touchdowns are more than the entire team had in 2007 and 2008 combined. He is a two-time af2 Ironman of the Week, earning the honors for his performance on April 25 at Central Valley and May 30 at home against Amarillo. Sanders is the second Burn player to receive an NFL tryout this season. Offensive lineman Kyle DeVan signed with the Indianapolis Colts earlier this spring after playing three games in Boise.
The Burn (12-3) conclude the regular season Saturday by hosting league power Spokane (14-1). Game time is 7:10 p.m. at Qwest Arena.

Well, why the hell not? Lets give the man a shot.
Re: Rams bringing in AFL Boise Burner stud returner for tryout!!
There certainly have been successful returners in the past who started as diamonds in the rough so, worth a shot.

Terrance Sanders
Height 5'11"
Weight 192
College Eastern Illinois
Position WR/DB
# Years Pro 2
# Years on Team
The man has good size, and may be able to "Horne" in on the return specialist job. If he can crack the depth chart as a db, so much the better. There is also the possibility he can play the "gunner" position on special teams. I tried to find a 40 time for him unsuccessfully .. He must have pretty good speed to have scored 7 return tds so far this year.

Sanders leads the Burn in tackles (80.5)
Nice resume. Didn't we used to have an AFL stud that turned our team around?
I'm for it, give the kid a shot! :D

Interesting possibility / potential. And you know for a fact that Sanders will try his very best as a prospect. He's excited! :ram:
Re: Rams bringing in AFL Boise Burner stud returner for tryout!!
Both Philly and Atlanta radically improved their STs last year. Glad to see we are trying to do the same.
Dunno where to find starting field position stats but I remember a late season game commentator saying something about The Rams having the worst in the NFL to that point.
I think we were next to last in punt return yds allowed and #26 in return yds gained.
Ewwww....
Re: Rams bringing in AFL Boise Burner stud returner for tryout!!
Pretty impressive that he also leads the team in tackles. If he shows good burst as a returner and can also prove valuable as a coverage guy on special teams, he could make his place on the team.
As Avenger mentioned, it's not out of the ordinary for a guy like this to make it. Tony Horne (undrafted) and Michael Lewis (didn't even play college ball) immediately come to mind as a couple guys who came out of nowhere to turn into electric NFL returners, even if those examples were short-lived.

Well I live in Boise, and while I have not bothered to go see a Burn game...the daily local sports talk had his coach on and he had plenty of great things to say about him and his vision in the return game, and more than anything I think that is the aspect that makes a good return man. I guess we will see....worth a shot.

I'm actually genuinely excited for this kid. The Rams could definitely use a high motor guy like this. He seems to have everything you look for in a special teams guy, speed, good change of direction and toughness. Most importantly, I don't see him backtracking like some of our past return men. Here's hoping he makes the team, I'll be rooting for him.
