Rams Camp at a Glance: July 30

Rams Camp at a Glance: July 30
Post-Dispatch
Friday, Jul. 29 2005

Limited activity: G Adam Timmerman (shoulders, foot).

Absent: Unsigned draft picks Alex Barron (OT, 1st round) and Richie
Incognito (G, 3rd round).

Attendance: 1,516 at Friday morning's open practice.

Just visiting: ESPN's John Clayton.

Today's schedule: Practices at 8:30 a.m. (open to the public) and
4:30 p.m. (closed).

BITS AND PIECES

* Darnell Alford is filling in at right guard with the first unit
until Timmerman is cleared for contact. Timmerman had operations on both
shoulders and a foot in the offseason.

* Mike Martz wants Adam Archuleta, listed at 223 pounds, to trim
down to about 205 as he moves to free safety from strong safety.

* Converted wide receiver Mike Furrey, a valuable special-teams
contributor, looks comfortable at safety.

OVERHEARD

* "Everything on this football team - offense,
defense and special teams - all starts on the offensive
line. If we're good there, then it sets the tone in place for
everything else." - Martz.

* "I have friends at home that sometimes give them
to me, but when I see an article, it's usually by (a local writer).
So if I want to find out where we're going to finish, I'll just ask
you guys."
- Quarterback Marc Bulger, on forecasts in preseason magazines.
