Like I said earlier, Long is playing like an elite DE no doubt.

I wouldn't say elite, but he is having a really good year so far.

    What a bust!

I mean EVERYONE knows that the only way to evaluate a DE is by comparing his sack total to other DEs. That's all you need to know about a DE.

It is also better to have fast and skinny DE who can't play the run.

Long has been oh so close to a multitude of sacks. This stat does not surprise me at all. He's a disruptive force and the sacks will come.

he needs another monster guy opposite him, it would make for quite an improvement in our defense.

I guess James Hall's four sacks in four games isn't good enough?

Hubison just threw a wrench in there to create turmoil lol

But none the less everyone watching the game leans towards to qb on television everytime Mr. Long gets close. The sacks will start mounting up. Quote me on this.

I'm not surprised by this at all. Long is a high motor guy and doesn't stop until the whistle is blown.

His fan recognizable* stats will start to pile up soon.....

    * wow that's a big word hope I spelled it right.

    GO RAMS!!!!

I knew he was getting back there, just not racking up sacks. Of course pressures can be just as good as a sack if you can force a bad throw or turnover.

He's getting close to being a guy who can get 10+ sacks in a year.

What is it they say about when "almost" counts?

Pressures are nice and all, but a play on which a player got a "pressure" could still be a scramble, a completion, a touchdown. When you lead the league in almost-tackles, you're leading the league in missed tackles. When you lead the league in almost-sacks, you're leading the league in...?

i agree with Golden here. It's nice to see Chris Long getting pressures but he will never be an elite DE if he cannot finnish. Chris Long was a #2 pick a "can't miss" DE prospect so he should be held to a higher standard.

When it comes to being a pass rushers you need to be feared. You need to hit the QB and hit him hard (and in today's game hit him clean). Im from New Jersey and i know the impact Michael Strahan had on the Giants.

Also Long is not an "elite" pass rusher. Right now he is a solid DE with a good motor, he has the potential but he is not great until he can hit the opposing QB consistently.

You think howie long became a HOF DE because he got close?

This board is fraught with man love for Long. He is getting close but of those pressures, howmany still went for positive gains? I like him too but nowhere near elite......Solid for now with some upside.
