And yet you want to get rid of the NFL's best turnover-creating safety.

Here's hoping that Chris Long's move to LDE puts him over the top for the Rams. However, did anyone else notice Derrick Harvey's 49(!) QBPs? WOW!!...Just sayin'...

Looking back at the 2008 draft, it's clear the Chris Long was one of the most logical picks we made.

We had a hole at DE, and so we drafted Long. And I'm glad we did. What if we drafted a DE in Round 2? Who would we have gotten? Calais Campbell? Quentin Groves?

Also, there were really no playmakers that we could pick with the #2 overall that would not have been a reach.

Darren McFadden? Look how he turned out.

Johnathan Stewart or Felix Jones? Would have been a huge reach.

I mean, looking back, I think I would rather had us draft Ryan Clady, knowing how good he turned out, but it doesn't work that way. I'm glad we drafted Long, because if we drafted a playmaker instead, we would have 2 holes at DE right now.

I'm going to be honest here. I feel that Long should have better production. I know that he contributes on almost every single play, and that is great. But, even 2nd-3rd round picks can do that. Hell, they might not be playmakers and make stand-out plays, but they have a hand in how the play develops.

While Long does do that, I expected a bit more from him. But, I do understand that he had to transition from a 3-4 to a 4-3 scheme coming out of college, and that he had to again adjust to Spag's scheme last year.

I think that this year he will be a lot more productive.

Chris Long reminds me of Justin Smith.. he will be an 8 sack type of guy at best.. which is pretty solid.

Re: Rams' Chris Long ready to live up to expectations

If we ever find the talent to create a consistent push up the middle on passing downs, Long should get his fair share of sacks. As long as opposing Qbs have the option of stepping up into the pocket when feeling pressure coming from the corner, sacks will be a lot harder to come by ..

He doesn't to me at all. A bit more pressure up the middle on a few more plays and instead of a pressure, its a sack. DE's routinely don't come on until late, why are we so quick to label Long after 2 years in changing schemes (not to mention being lined up at RE)?

Collapse that pocket and you'll see a Chris Long with 10+ sacks yearly methinks. Didn't he get 5 sacks in as many games last year late in the season?

This is an area where Suh would have helped immensely.

    Can't disagree with that.

But then we'd possibly have that punk Clausen on our team...

Chris Long reminds me of a faster, more athletic Grant Wistrom, without the puffy afro.
