    Rams Are Cleaning It Up

Last week I started a thread that showed where the Rams needed to clean themselves up if they were going to win. It was regarding Penalties, turnovers and I think special teams. Someone I won't say who however his initials are Ramdez said it was to much to overcome in 6 days.
    Dez you stand happily corrected.

    Penalties-Yards 4-30
    Fumbles-Lost 0-0
    Had Intercepted 1
    Punts 1- 9
    Kickoffs 6 - 109 Avg. 18.2

I'm particularly impressed with the way the Rams improved their kick coverage.

He's right, it's all about execution. If you look back on several games earlier in the season we just didn't execute when we needed to. From the failed squib kick against New Orleans to the pass protection against Atlanta, we haven't made the big plays when we need them. It looks like that's changing just in time.

Despite the improvements, I still hold my breath (beer breath) when we kick off or Punt.

    Too many horrible recent memories.....

I do like what I saw on Saturday. What is the difference??

I think that prepartation and the right attitude are the biggies. Did anyone notice personnel changes? Was Furrey a factor or someone else?

The turnover battle will surely be critical this week. They might not pass much so the D has to be smacking that ball out. Dunn is good with holding the ball.

From the failed squib kick against New Orleans
    Let's not go there! :disappoin

They have done a much better job lately, let's hope it carries over to this week.

Re: Rams Are Cleaning It Up

I recall someone saying that Furry was a factor, but I know that Trev Faulk was back making plays again on Special Teams. I think he had 2 tackles.

The 2 things that are still concerning me about special teams are:

Wilkins distance on Kickoffs: When the ball only goes to the 15, look out. The opposing team will get to the 35/40, if not break one.

It's odd though, as every other time he kicks it to the 5?

MacDonald: He's never back far enough on Punt returns. He's always going backwards. It's so bad to catch the ball going backwards because then you take 2 more steps going backwards while they are taking 2 (or 3) more steps towards you. If you get back farther to begin with, you come up to the ball a bit, and get going. It's ST 101. Not sure how this isn't addressed week after week? It will be on my special teams. (once I apply).

sbramfan - Good Points and thanks.

Seemed that I recall Wilkins limping a bit. No wonder, he has to make tackles too often.

Now going into the Falcons nest, lets hope the Rams can continue to improve against a team that has made a habbit of take aways this season
