    Rams Code For Success: 320-0-7-32-2

    Why?

320 - minimum number of rushing attempts for Steven Jackson (i.e. 20 per game).

0 - total pass attempts (combined) by Trent Green and Bruce Gradkowski (or Brock Berlin) during the regular season.

7 - maximum number of players who start a game on the O line during the regular season.

32 - minimum number of sacks by Rams' starting D line.

2 - maximum number of games missed by Will Witherspoon and O.J Atogwe (combined)

If all of those things occur, the Rams will make the playoffs.

If you dont push them numbers in to the computer every 361 minutes, in order, something bad will happen. We will have to do it in shifts.

Please don't misread my intentions, I am not arguing, just trying to engage.

Didn't the team as a whole only net 31 sacks last season, with 16 of those coming from the DLine. If the line can pull double the sacks this season, I'd suggest the Rams will do more than just make the playoffs. Even if you discount Witherspoons totals last year (ie. don't expect those numbers again this season) because he won't have to bring the pressure, he could do clean up. 32 from the DL, much less the starting DL, would be downright impressive.

Curious, what would be your projected individual player totals on that line?

The formula was 2 per game. To break it down, I'll hedge a little bit and count both Glover and Ryan as starters, given that they both might start during the season. How about:

    Leonard Little: 12
    L'Roi Glover: 6
    Adam Carriker: 4
    Clifton Ryan: 2
    Chris Long: 8

How about keeping our own QB from being sacked less than 30 times?

This would be good. Throw in some sacks from the bench, somewhere around where they performed last year: Moore 2, Hall 2, and a few from LB blitz, say 5.............all pie in the sky of course, and your looking at around low to mid 40s in defensive sacks. The start of some respectibility.

Re: Rams Code For Success: 320-0-7-32-2

Seriously, Avenger has really simplified the season in a very articulate manner ..

If all the things above hold true, 32 sacks from our D-Line would be unbelievable. With that kind of pressure from the line, and a handful of other sacks from LB's, DB's, and backups, I think our defensive backfield would hold opposing quarterbacks in the 70-75 rating range. We kept opposing QB's rating below 80 much of last season with no pressure from the front ...

If Bulger plays all 16, and S-Jax gets 1400 yards rushing, and we get 32 sacks from the D-Line, which would likely be 40-45+ overall, not only will this team have a winning record, they'll likely win 10 or more and be a significant Super Bowl threat ....

With the terrible opening schedule, a 10-6 record would be much more like 11-5 or 12-4 ...

Nice post Av, but i would argue that Ryan will get more sacks than Glover this year, if Ryan's fitness (and all round game) has improved over last year.
