Re: Rams' countdown to cutdown ..

How is Shelley Smith who is still working out with the #1's half the time not considered safe?

Cunningham must have made it obvious to Ganaway what the future held. Benny was considered a quality prospect before his injury. Sounds like we shouldn't discount his future (Pead could end up #4 soon).
I wonder if a 6th WR will be deemed unnecessary as Cook could easily fill that position. Andrew Helmick will make that difficult. How can people look at him and not see a Wes Welker type player in 2 years?

I think Helmick chose a really tough year to make a surprise appearance. Normally a player like him could get a chance based on being young and having some upside, over veteran players. But the Rams don't have anything but young players at WR, so he will need to beat someone out. Cook basicly is another WR. That must make it difficult to commit more than 5 spots to the WR position.

It is a shame, because he seems like a very interesting prospect.

Helmick should get a practice squad position if nothing else.

Wes Welker went undrafted and was cut by the Chargers before Miami took a shot at him.

Totally agree with favorable comments about Andrew Helmick, even if he is unproven. He has shown very good potential and if not for the hamstring injury, he would be farther / further ahead.

    - - Helmick doing an Amendola impression.

Also, I thought Philip Lutzenkirchen would at least be 'on the bubble' rather than a "probably not".

We need to send these posts to Jim Thomas.

Re: Rams' countdown to cutdown ..

i mean helmick has made more yards on one catch than austin has in the last game...

yes i know it was against lower tier players lol

i'd see him as a good return man at least if they don't take him as a receiver, i wanna see him return kicks or something
but yea, if this was last year he'd make the team for sure imo

    also agree with lutzenkirchen

That's the same thing I was thinking. It'd be nice if the Rams could stash him there, and cross their fingers that the rest of the league doesn't take a flier on him.

Ray Ray Armstrong am reasonably sure he has a home with the Rams. Having re-watched the Rams/Packers game, you sure ALL those linemen on the bubble have a home? Trumaine Johnson, I think he's on the bubble and if there is a surprise coming out of the Rams, it might be he might not make the team--DUI this pass summer, a history of off the field issues, lack of physical toughness during the preseason PLUS some serious blown plays; someone needs to have a talk with him

I don't see Truemaine going anywhere. He showed enough last year that you could trust him to become a decent third CB in this league. If McGee takes over his job, then Johnson will be a more than decent fourth option. Not a guy that is on the bubble to get cut.
