I think we should've kept Stanley and sign this guy. I'm excited. Our return game didn't even exist. Hopefully we got a good return player.

Is there a chance this is less about the two players involved and more about sending a message to the rest of the team? Sort of a just because the season started doesn't mean everybody is guaranteed a job from here on out.

Re: Rams Cut Stanley, Sign WR/KR Amendola

    interesting.....

hopefully he can make an impact on punt/kr, i dont think stanley did to bad, but wasnt anything spectacular. more yards per punt.kr will help our struggling offense out. lets hope he can do it.

unfortunatly, Amendola just being on practice squads thus far in his career and not on the any roster doesnt give me much confidence.

Re: Rams Cut Stanley, Sign WR/KR Amendola

If D.A. is already playing this Sunday at home, you just know he's going to be all pumped up. That's the impression he gives me from the tapes (again, great videos AB and Schut, thanks).

Sure hope he gets good returns, good field position ... and that the Rams offense will produce from it!

Would like to hear what Amendola says about joining the Rams.

    Position: WR Class: Sr / School: Texas Tech Conference: Big 12 / Ht. - Wt.: 5-10.5, 183 / 40 Time: 4.69

BIOGRAPHY: Three-year starter who posted career-high receiving numbers of 103/1177/5 as a senior when he also averaged 16.7 yards on 13 punt returns. Junior-year totals included 48/487/5.

POSITIVES: Reliable slot receiver who plays with terrific quickness. Fluid releasing off the line, quick to top speed, and shows sharpness running routes. Gets separation from opponents. Possesses top football instincts, extends his hands, and makes the tough reception in a crowd. Uses his frame to protect the pass, displays good eye/hand coordination, and a fearless receiver who lays out for the tough catch. Works hard running after the reception and impacts the game returning punts.

NEGATIVES: Undersized and loses out to large defenders. More quick than fast and lacks the second gear.

ANALYSIS: Amendola is a consistent pass-catcher with potential as a slot receiver and a punt returner at the next level.

    PROJECTION: Middle Fifth Round

I'm sure Devaney waited as long as he could to see if Fitzgerald or Calvin Johnson were going to be cut. I guess it just wasn't in the cards.

Re: Rams Cut Stanley, Sign WR/KR Amendola

How is it even remotely possible that people on this board think that they know more than spags and devaney about which obscure 7th round/practice squad players are the best fits for the Rams. Does anyone really believe that we as fans can evaluate this type of thing, especially since not one of us has seen the new guy play and stanley has played so little? Its bad enough that people think that they can make judgments on experienced players better than spags and devaney, but when it comes to players of this level of obscurity, its just beyond the realm of reality to believe that any of us really have a clue as to what we are talking about.

For the millionth time, everyone is entitled to their opinion, but when that opinion is based on nothing but pure speculation, it doesnt carry any weight with me.

This guy has good hands, made some big catches in the Texas/Texas Tech game last year. He's deceptive. He won't beat anyone deep but he's one of those on 3rd and 8 will be effective. Hangs onto the ball also.

Stanley shouldn't have made the original roster. His hands are bad as a receiver (multiple drops in preseason and last year), he's always banged up and as a return specialist he routinely showed he's average at his best. It was time to move on from that experiment.

He wasn't actually released, as we signed him off the practice squad.
Eagles are fairly loaded at WR, and have DeSean Jackson as a returner.

I am actually liking this the more I read about it. He may not have the speed of other receivers, but he has great quickness and gets good separation. I can't wait to see what he can do for us on special teams.

Yes he did!! Part of the game i kept thinking, "Who the hell is this areola guy?".. A Tech fan next to me had said to watch out for em so its good to see him in a Rams uniform..Besides, I doubt Spags & Devaney have been sleeping on the job, lets just say he isnt starting this fast for no reason..

Hey great original well thought out post. Yeah they can cut Bulger and then the GREAT Kyle Boller who tore it up in Baltimore can come in and start. After all the great Boller wasnt released cause he sucks it was like a Phillip Rivers Drew Brees thing right. They just had to let one go because they couldnt pay two great qb's in Baltimore. (sarcasm off) You guys that keep bringing up Bulger in every thread have not watched one game this year. Bulger is far from the problem on this team, but hey you people will get your wish and we will be starting guys like Boller next year. Be careful what you wish for i.e Kurt Warner was washed up in St. Louis too, now look at him. All the Rams troubles back then were Warners fault too. Sure lets go make the same mistake twice. It would be better for Bulger anyway at least maybe he'd go to a team that had an o-line and some experienced wr's so he could succeed just like Warner did.
