Re: Rams cut WR Donnie Avery and QB Thad Lewis
Just saw that as well. Here is what he posted:
Its been real St.Louis. I had a good 3 years. The feelings were mutual. We both thought I need a fresh start somewhere else. #NoHardFeelings
I knew some tough cuts were coming, I guess this was one of them. Rooting for him to catch on somewhere else, he's got the talent to put up some good numbers with the right team.

So much for what Billy D was saying about "Draft postion not mattering." BS. Not exactly heart broken though. I think I'm going to miss Lewis more of the two.

Re: Rams cut WR Donnie Avery and QB Thad Lewis
damm, we probably have one of the slowest WR core in the league without Avery and Gilyard....
Lets see what these young guys have.....
best of luck to Donnie Avery, I really hope he excels somewhere else

I can't believe Alexander is going to make the team over Avery. It's a real shame - Avery has looked good when given the chance.

I can't believe this. I'm totally pissed that Avery is gone. And they kept that walking surgery Danario? OMG

I can't believe any of you are complaining about this. Draft position, Avery been good when given the opportunity. First of all Avery has had tons of opportunity. In fact we have kept him for three years during which the only consistency he has shown was his ability to get injured. Why keep someone like that taking up a roster spot over a young guy with nothing but potential such as Petis or Salas? I think this is a smart decision and a long time coming. To win in this league you have to make these hard decisions and Devaney and co seem perfectly capable of this.

Re: Rams cut WR Donnie Avery and QB Thad Lewis
Guys and Gals, we are talking about the fifth receiver at best here, maybe 6th with Clayton added in. ST play probably is why he is gone and Curry is here, and also his salary from being a high 2nd round pick. They are going with young guys as those almost unused sixth and seventh receivers, for the future. A big guy like Pettis should be good on ST.
As far as Lewis, who would sign him on active roster this late? Teams are going more with just two QB now with new rules, and my guess is again Lewis goes on PS here. The guy was an undrafted guy, so even some good play aginst third teamers in pre-season is not going to get him much interest on active squad.Barry Waller

Why release avery???
He seems like he was improving in the pre-season. I know he is a walking injury report every year. But I thought they were going to give him a good shot this yr

Shame that Avery didn't live up to his draft billing, but going forward it is a wise move.
MSW, Clayton, Amendola, Kendricks, Pettis, Salas... We're set up nicely IMO.
