Rams Decide to Trade #2 Pick, As Per ESPN
ESPN.com reporting. Of course, they are short on specifics, merely saying the Rams have had talks with Cleveland, Washington and Miami- nothing we haven't all discussed already. They DID say the Rams would be looking for a deal similar to the one Sand Diego received a few years back when they traded the rights to Eli Manning to NY. San Diego parlayed those picks into Philip Rivers, Shawne Merriman and Nate Kaeding- three pro bowlers.
I think the most plausible trade (if the Rams do in fact trade down) would be to ask Cleveland for their two 1st rounders at #4 and I believe #22. Cleveland takes Griffin, we still can get Blackmon at #4 and a quality player later in the round. Of course this is assuming Cleveland is a willing participant.

Really? So are Snead and Fisher going to be holding a joint press conference tomorrow to announce that they will without a doubt trade the pick? Interesting. Thanks ESPN, I never would've guessed that was an option for us.

Believe me if we trade with clevland that won't be the only picks going our way since the cost/demand effect is running its's course! I love a lively marketplace...

While this seems fairly obvious to us, it is an important first step of this year's draft process. We have to establish the position that if teams want RG3, they have to deal with us, not the Vikings.

There is Adam Schefter's tweet that started all of this. In my opinion it's not anything that is newsworthy. It was noting but speculation, and nothing that hasn't been said beforeLast edited by JM7; -02-27-2012 at 10:57 PM.

Hahaha. ESPN is such a joke at this stage. They broke into a "Breaking News" story and brought in Adam Schefter for a 1 minute interview to describe how the Rams decided to trade the pick.
NFLNetwork is the only network I go to for sports-related news, because really Football and the Rams are the only sport I care about, so why ever tune into ESPN at this point.
They were clearly just desperate for anything Combine related as NFLN has the exclusive rights.

Re: Rams Decide to Trade #2 Pick, As Per ESPN
To move up from #3 to #2, San Diego traded 2 first round picks, a 2nd and a 3x pro-bowl player. The offer for RG3 will be more than that. Because of the salary cap, RG3 is worth more than previous highly drafted QBs.

To RebelYell
I agree, I can't see any reason why not.? Ive NEVER seen a player with RG3's god given talents before. So, for this reason, I will be very disappointed if the Rams don't get much more than the TVC. Id like to see some of next years, 2's, 3's or 4's thrown in as well, or players. The Rams need to maximise this once in a lifetime opportunity.? Id hate to think the Rams use that 2nd overall pick on themselves now.?

Re: Rams Decide to Trade #2 Pick, As Per ESPN
Its reports like this that make me really like Schefter.
The Rams have not decided to trade the No. 2 pick. They have decided to try to trade the No. 2 pick. Until a trade is agreed upon, nothing is "decided."
Of course, it is exceedingly logical to presume that the Rams will trade the pick, absent some sort of collective low-balling by the various suitors.
But Schefter has no more information than any of the the other reporters who have indicated that the No. 2 pick is being shopped. He just tries to be the first to "announce" things that will happen in the future.
I guess that's what sports "journalism" has become.
Welcome to the St. Louis Rams!

Re: Rams Decide to Trade #2 Pick, As Per ESPN
So much can happen between now and the draft. How about if RG3 goes #1 and Luck drops? The trade packages would change because the teams that would be interested would change. Obviously the Browns have the goods as far as trade picks to put together an offer but it's not a lock that they end up going down that road. For all we know Fisher will keep the pick and draft Kalil. The only thing for sure is that ESPN doesn't know.

Re: Rams Decide to Trade #2 Pick, As Per ESPN
I've heard reports that the Browns aren't interested in a trade now, that they're gunning for Matt Flynn and Blackmon. NFL Radio is saying our best bet is Miami or the Skins. But again, just more speculation at this point. If I listen tomorrow something will change.
