Rams drop two, sign four players
BY JIM THOMAS
ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH
Tuesday, Nov. 14 2006
In one of their busiest regular-season days since the move to St. Louis, the
Rams made several roster moves Tuesday.
Left tackle Orlando Pace (torn triceps) and cornerback Travis Fisher (fractured
forearm) were placed on the season-ending injured reserve list. Also, kickoff
returner J.R. Reed and defensive end Tony Bryant were released.
Signed to the roster Tuesday were: kickoff returner Willie Ponder; offensive
lineman Adam Haayer; cornerback Chidi Iwuoma; and defensive end Eric Moore.
Moore was signed through 2007; the others were signed through this season only.
Ponder, most recently with Seattle, led the NFL in kickoff returns with a
26.9-yard average for the New York Giants in 2004.
Moore recently was released by the New Orleans Saints.
Iwuoma, a member of the Super Bowl XL champion Pittsburgh Steelers, worked out
for the Rams on Nov. 3.
Haayer was in training camp with the Rams this summer.
Ponder will take over the team’s kickoff return chores immediately. The Rams
gave Reed what turned out to be one-last chance last Sunday in Seattle, and he
averaged only 21 yards on three returns.
Moore was unavailable when Bryant was signed Oct. 18, and the Rams think he has
more potential as a pass rusher.
With Fisher expected to miss at least the next four weeks, and with just seven
games to go, the Rams decided to place him on IR and bring in Iwuoma, who was
co-captain of Pittsburgh’s special teams unit last season, and had spent part
of this season with New England
Re: Rams drop two, sign four players
We got a kickoff returner, thats good.I'm sad to see Reid and Bryant go but in Reids case,if you can't produce, you shouldn't get paid.
Re: Rams drop two, sign four players
GC got his wish...Ponder is now a Ram!
RF16 and others got their wish...Fisher's slow recovery will take too long to bring him back this year.
Will this be the end of Travis Fisher as a Ram? Dang it, I hope so!
Will our kickoff returns improve instantly because of Ponder? Dang it, I hope so!
Go Rams!!! :l
Re: Rams drop two, sign four players
Well, I'm glad to see we're getting things done...
Like I said...I still like Linehan lol
Re: Rams drop two, sign four players
Yeah I think Fisher is done as a Ram.I've looked up this Eric Moore guy, and he looks like a nice addition. His senior year in college he was a top All American Candidate, but that's just college.I like the additions.
Re: Rams drop two, sign four players
Does anybody know anything about our new aquisitions? We know Ponder from Seattle. How about the other three new players? Nick, any thoughts on these guys?
Re: Rams drop two, sign four players
Iwuoma seems to be able to help out on special teams too, which will probably instantly elevate him above JB on the depth chart
I want to see Bartell get a shot now that Fisher is out. Hill will obviously start, but Bartell should come in on nickel and dime formations
Re: Rams drop two, sign four players

With our luck he's probably the son of Michael Moore. :\
Re: Rams drop two, sign four players
Haayer has played in the NFL so he could be some solid depth.
Moore could be a great pass rusher, but he won't help us against the run which is what we need.
