*PLUSES: Nice outing by WR Laurent Robinson (5 catches, 65 yards) . . . better showing by RB Kenneth Darby (7 carries, 30 yards) . . . 3-2 edge in turnover ratio . . . nice reactions by rookie LB James Laurinaitis and S Todd Johnson on interceptions off a tip . . . rookie QB Keith Null again looked composed, despite late interception.
*MINUSES: Woeful showing by first-team offense in run game, mostly because of poor blocking up front . . . Samkon Gado took a step backward after his big game vs. the Jets . . . a number of missed tackles by the first-team defense . . . a couple of bad drops by WRs.
*KEY STAT: Toss out an 11-yard scramble by QB Kyle Boller, and the first-team offense mustered only 15 yards on 15 carries in the first half.
*KEY PLAY: With the Rams down a touchdown in the final minute and on the Atlanta 13, Null aimed a pass into the end zone for TE Joe Klopfenstein. The throw was a bit high, the coverage was pretty good and Klopfenstein couldn’t quite make the catch.
*INJURIES: DT Gary Gibson (blow to head), T Phil Trautwein (back), DE James Hall (sternum), DE Eric Moore (ribs). None believed to be serious.
*WHAT’S NEXT: The players are off Saturday before returning to the practice field Sunday. The next preseason game is Thursday at Cincinnati.
