NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Camp Day 15)

When the Rams have a Sunday game, they normally practice fairly vigorously for 90 minutes or so on Friday, then go through final preparations in a Saturday walk-through that lasts around 45 minutes. With the preseason schedule getting under way with a Saturday night game vs. Tennessee, coach Scott Linehan turned two days into one.

The team worked out for 2 hours 15 minutes Friday afternoon at LP Field, where the Rams and Titans will square off. But they went through their paces at a walk-through tempo. At the end, Linehan pronounced his squad ready for action.

“As far as what we’ve gotten done, how they’ve gone about their business and doing what they’ve been asked to do and how they handled that, it’s a great sign,” Linehan said. “What we wanted to do in the first two weeks (of training camp) and going into the third week, I think that’s been accomplished.”

Linehan expects to play his first-teamers for about a quarter, followed by two periods with the second unit and perhaps some of the third team. The deep reserves take over for the final 15 minutes. Of course, those plans could change, depending on game circumstances.

Notes & quotes:

>>LB Will Witherspoon (shoulder) is questionable, but two others who have been nursing injuries — C Brett Romberg (hand) and RB Antonio Pittman (thigh) — should be ready to go.

>>Quinton Culberson is expected to get the start at strongside LB.

>>Richie Incognito should be in the lineup at RG. Mark Setterstrom continues his comeback from a strained muscle near his right knee.

>>K Justin Medlock definitely has NFL talent, and he probably will begin his “audition” for a job elsewhere vs. the Titans. Josh Brown is firmly in place as the No. 1 K.

>>Offensive coordinator Al Saunders will call the plays from the press box. Quarterbacks coach Terry Shea will relay them to the quarterback.

>>”This is something that I’ve been looking forward to, the official start of the 2008 season. And when you play somebody with other shirts on, it’s official.” — Linehan.

All for now . . . more reports over the weekend.
