Rams free safety Atogwe wins team MVP

Rams free safety Oshiomogho "O.J." Atogwe is the winner of the Daniel F. Reeves Award as the team MVP in voting by players and coaches. Atogwe, who has four interceptions and has forced seven fumbles, is the second defensive player in a row to win the award. Linebacker Will Witherspoon won the award, named after the former Rams owner, last season.

Other award winners announced Wednesday were wide receiver Donnie Avery, who won the Carroll Rosenbloom Award as rookie of the year, and strong safety Corey Chavous, who won the Carl Ekern Spirit of the Game Award. Chavous won the award for the third straight season. Previously, only linebacker Mike Jones (1997-99) had won the award three years in a row.

Good for OJA. He did well and is likely to get better as part of the Rams secondary.

Considering the '09 W / L numbers, it may be a 'Consolation Prize' if you will but still, well deserved.
