Rams' Hargrove is hit over head with bottle
Rams defensive end Anthony Hargrove was hit on the head with a beer bottle in a bar brawl late Tuesday night in Cottleville, police said.
Hargrove was at Kokomo's West Bar & Grill, 3925 Mid Rivers Mall Drive at about 11 p.m., when he overheard another patron say he was going to scam teammate Steven Jackson, police said.
Hargrove called Jackson on his cell phone, and Jackson went to the bar, apparently to get Hargrove to leave, according to police.
While the two were on the way out, a fight broke out, police said.
Hargrove was hit over the head with a beer bottle. It was unclear what started the fight or how many people were involved. Initial reports to police said 20 to 30 people were involved but many scattered when police arrived.
Police from Cottleville, St. Peters, the St. Charles County Sheriff's Department and the Missouri State Highway Patrol responded as patrons fled the parking lot, police said.
Cottleville Police Chief Scott Lewis said Wednesday that no one has been arrested, and his department is not pursuing charges against anyone.
He said Hargrove refused medical treatment at the scene, but he was told by the Rams security director that Hargrove did go to the emergency room of an area hospital.
Lewis had no indication of what type of treatment Hargrove might have received.
