Rams hire another Vikings assistant

The St. Louis Rams have hired a second assistant coach off the Vikings staff.

According to NFL sources, Vikings defensive line assistant Brendan Daly will be named the Rams defensive line coach. This comes a week after new St. Louis coach Steve Spagnuolo hired Vikings special teams coordinator Paul Ferraro to coach the Rams’ linebackers.

Daly served as an assistant to Vikings defensive line coach Karl Dunbar the past three seasons. Before coming to Minnesota, Daly had been an assistant with five teams at the college level. That included stops at Villanova in 1999 and 2005. He coached Villanova’s defensive linemen in his second stint.

I don't know the first thing about Daly, but if there is an area of the field that I wouldn't mind the Rams replicating the Vikes, it's the D-line. Hopefully, Daly can contribute towards that.

Heck if we have half of the Vik's d-line compared to what we have now I would be thrilled

If we have anything that resembles Minnesota's line, I'm intrigued. We have a guy who coached that solid group of players. Hopefully he can bring some of that intensity to our line. God knows we've been below average on that portion of the team.

All he needs to do now is develop Chris Long into another Jared Allen.....without the drinking problem that is.

He is yet another guy that should be hungry and ready to prove himself. I definitely like the mix they've got on the coaching staff now. A couple of older wiley veteran coaches like Curl and Crooms and a lot of young coaches moving up a step and getting an opportunity.

I don't know much about Daly, but he has to do a better job than what we have done defensively over the past few years.
