According to the PD, he was in Mobile last week scouting with the Rams.

Lets hope we get steered more in the Patrick Willis / Joe Staley direction than the Alex Smith direction

If you look at the 9ers FA track record compared to ours, we don't even matchup even close. Guys like Larry Allen, Nate Clements, Justin Smith, Isaac Bruce, and Michael Lewis. Takes from pressure of Devaney in FA so he can do better in the draft

Shouldn't matter as he is the director of pro personnel, which means he will be focusing on scouting existing pro players, not college players. Last I read Softli was the guy with the college player focus.

I mis-read the title and thought the rams had got the former Lions WR, now this is better news, hopefully get some decent FA signings

Actually that was one of Mike Martz big complaint. He wanted a pro scout and zagnut would never hire one.

He was actually the assistant director, so as such wasn't really responsible for any personnel acquisitions.

That could be good OR bad.

About time. We seem to be learning from our past mistakes or shortcomings. At this pace, I am quickly becoming a fan of Chip, et al, keeping ownership as long as Devaney continues running things. If anything, the organization looks professional and competent. Things are really looking up...
